Covid is still with us which is now fast approaching 3 years; the Nightingale Hospitals were there basically simple to house those who could not be treated by the Hospitals and our overrun ICU Units in other words last chance saloon, we will do what we can with what staff we have hopefully your will survive
It is not good that these operations have had to be delayed especially as some of them have probably been waiting a long time, but let's put it into perspective they are not life-threatening conditions such as Hips and Knee replacements their condition will not kill then.
The NHS quite rightly are dealing with and operating at pace on such conditions, as cancer, heart and lung problems, and similar life-threatening conditions, the NHS and Private Hospitals helping them have continued to carry out major life saving operations right through Covid, they are still doing them as soon as they can.
Once that backlog is reduced then they can then start operating on the nonlife threatening conditions

jonsky >> "And what have the left woke NHS managers ever done to clear this matter up which they have themselves created? Even after the lockdown was lifted and social distancing was stopped you still had to wear a mask and practice social distancing at GP's surgeries for months afterwards. You would have more chance of becoming the pope than you would to get to see your GP. This is down to the NHS themselves not the government."
No - the problem was not created by NHS managers, waiting times to see a GP were bad and getting worse BEFORE Covid arrived in this country.
The problem is primarily because there is a critical shortage of clinical staff - caused entirely by the government, the lowering of doctors and nurses terms and conditions, years of either pay freezes, or pay rises below inflation, leading to real terms cut in pay.
Nurses and doctors are under immense pressure, partly due to the drumming down of work conditions, and partly because of under-staffing, people are leaving the NHS, doctoes and nurses are fed up, they are fed up of been asked to do more and more for the same money or less.
The Tories are great believers in The Free Market - Well the health industry is a "Free Market" and if the NHS is a shit place to work, then doctors and nurses will go else where - early retirement - the private sector - Australia, the United States.
It took the last Labour government almost 5 years to rescue the NHS and turn it around, and its going to have to be a priority for Keir Starmer when he becomes Prime Minister in 2024.

It took the last Labour government almost 5 years to rescue the NHS and turn it around, and its going to have to be a priority for Keir Starmer when he becomes Prime Minister in 2024. You do know that labour closed more A&E units and cottage hospitals than the Tories ever did I presume? All labour acheived was to increase the managment numbers and bring in this diversity rubbish. Labour have never rescued the NHS and that is for sure. And as for starmer becoming the next PM watch the NHS go even further down the pan. Look how blairs PFIs have tied the NHS into these contracts which cost the UK tax payers billions and our grand kids grand kids will still be paying that off, Even when fully repaid, the public won’t own the hospitals.. Just the interest alone on these PFIs would be enough to build and equip 10 new hospitals a year.
Read and weep.
1997 Tony Blair (New Labour) dump Labour’s tradition of support for public service and opt for privatisation and deregulation, funding 100 new NHS hospitals with PFIs. In total, approximately £11 billion is borrowed, with repayments reaching approximately £88 billion. Even when fully repaid, the public won’t own the hospitals. PFIs enable a covert bed closure program to shrink NHS capacity, and a future land grab. As the costs of paying off debts rise, NHS trusts will be forced to sell assets. Letwin becomes a Conservative MP.
2000 New Labour’s NHS Plan introduces private provision of medical services into the NHS for the first time to ‘modernise’ and ‘reform’ its practices. Routine planned surgery, diagnostic tests and procedures are contracted out to private sector treatment centres at greater cost than the same care on the NHS.
2003 New Labour allows NHS trusts to apply to become Foundation Trusts (FTs), arms-length business entities independent of government control. This further embeds commercial priorities and leadership into the system.
2004 New Labour brings in Payment by Results. Providers are paid a fixed price per unit of completed health care. This helps the private sector to cherry-pick the easiest, most profitable treatments.
2009 Gordon Brown (New Labour) brings in the Unsustainable Provider Regime, the framework for using the PFI hospital debt burden to close and sell off publicly-owned NHS land and property.

Didn't your Granny ever teach you that two wrongs don't make a right?

I think we are getting to the point where the NHS is just too big and unreformable to work.
The latest 'crisis' is over blood supplies to the extent that the NHS are now cancelling operations due to the shortage of blood. This is directly caused by the changes the NHS brought in several years ago to the collection procedure that made it much more difficult for people to give blood - with the inevitable result that many stopped bothering.

Didn't your granny teach you the same? Where exactly have I upheld the Tories over their NHS reforms. At least I can see that the backlog was caused by a virus and a bloody NHS management that are not fit for purpose and have cut the government some slack over a global pandemic unlike some I could mention who just use it as an excuse to batter the Tories with.

Exactly and you even have to make an appontment now to give blood that the NHS are still cancelling after you have made them. Why would a donation require supervision blood plasma can be scanned before administration in this day and age.? Yet another rule brought in by the inept managers that has done nothing to stem the number of suspect blood donations given and have caused some deaths..
NHS blood shortages could last for MONTHS due to lack of 'carers' to supervise appointments - despite 10,000 people signing up to donate in just 24 hours
Blood shortages could last for months amid a major backlog in willing donors Staff shortages mean donors are waiting months to find appointments Others have reported having their appointments cancelled at the last minute NHS has declared an amber alert urging hospitals to protect blood stocks

Which is another problem with the NHS (and much of the Public Sector) - inept managers bring in changes that do not work but rather than being sacked for failure they join the public sector merry-go-round and move to another job. The guy that introduced the changes to blood collection that have caused the problems we see today has now moved on to another job in the NHS where no doubt he is doing just as much damage..

And this will continue until the swamp is drained unfortunately. It's just a vicious circle.

Thanks for repeatedly proving the Tories can't be trusted with the NHS.
All these links prove exactly that.
You have yet to prove it was "inept managers" or COVID that exclusively caused this, or woke diversity training or anything else, so your links just contribute to our argument. Please keep posting them.

Please keep posting them. Obviously the cause was not exclusively ‘ inept managers ‘ or COVID. COVID was obviously a major cause of many of the problems but ‘ inept management’ is not so easily proven. However …I have condition that needs very minor surgery in both of my legs . Through no fault of my own the scans of my right leg is recorded in one hospital and the scans of my left leg is recorded on another hospital. This came about because I was advised that if I went to another hospital for a scan on my left leg the whole treatment would be done sooner . Ive had six scans altogether over two legs ( admittedly the first two pre COVID). My records have been lost twice . I’ve been told bare faced lies and fobbed off twice . So here I am with one leg in each hospital and neither seems to be able or willing to address the treatment or keep the files for both scans in the same folder . COVID, Boris or Liz Truss has nothing to do with it. So that leaves NHS staff incompetence.

But the onus is on the one making the claims right? Surely you claimed that the NHS is going down due to woke managers etc? That needs qualifying & proving, there are no insults on my part & nothing like that; just saying it needs proving.

Lots of problems with the NHS down here in E Sussex too sadly.
