For what reason, have you paid a people smuggler under a false narrative and ended up in a cold sea from a boat not upto the job? It's not always possible to be certain what you mean, but one reading of 'stupid people win stupid prizes' is 'they deserved what they got'. I'd be delighted to hear that you didn't mean that. |

It is mid December, the water is dangerously cold, they get into an overloaded inflatable and try to cross a busy shipping lane in the dark, that takes a special idiocy or a special level of desperation. We know France, and all the countries they passed through before France are not dangerous places so it is not a push factor that is fueling that desperation it is a pull factor. It is our pull factor. We have the power to knock this whole thing on the head, stop the influx and save lives. It is our government that is to blame as they have the power to stop this but they will not. If they seriously try and are blocked then we know who will be responsible but they are not seriously trying and the process will continue unabated for the next several years at least and probably well into the future with probable cost of another 100 or so lives lost in the near future and many hundreds over the next decade. It seems strange that either people cannot assess what happens several years down the line or will not. I expect to have another decade, or hopefully two and I am sure I will see the effective destruction of England and probably the UK. Perhaps it is planned, it certainly seems to be as no one can be this incompetent, can they? |
