I think £7 million pound a day has been a Wake up call, not just to the Tories but to everyone. I think we might actually see some action at last, but I suspect it will be at a snails pace. I heard from Rishi it is now £5.5m/d. In other words already in this short time he has kicked some asses and got it moving in the right direction.

I wonder which laws they will be introducing/amending/repealing to allow these changes. That all depends on the hierarchy.
Strangely enough the only truth Prince Harry has told so far is indicating there is a hierarchy, but this does not end just in the Royal family, this elusive hierarchy run this country and not the government and not the royals, but they call the shots.

The Queen had to make the same choice, Prince Andrew her son, or the survival of the monarchy, King Charles is faced with the same dilemma, but he must put his people and the monarchy before his feelings for his son, exactly like his mother the Queen had to do with her own son Prince Andrew.

The Tories make an awful lot of announcements about how they are going to start controlling Asylum - and yet here we are after 12 years of Tory rule no further forward. The Tories are like Scottish Nationalists - they keep talking about doing something... So what did the SNP not do

The Tories have had plenty of time to sort this out, this is another failure. Nadine Dorries said 8 or 9 months ago that wwe need a general election, i felt she was betraying the country and the Tories.
Not now.
The Tories have lost the plot, i thought, in my naivety that Sunak would get it sorted. I wont be voting blue next time, to do so is more of the same, the Tories need to go. In medicine sometimes things have to get worse before things get better to know what the problem is. Parliament and in all its actions stinks to high heaven, corrupt and not fit for purpose, when it should be.
We are a sovereign nation now. We need business leaders, big and small, council leaders, ordinary people, even union leaders to run the country, not the OXbridge up their own bottoms rubbish, divorced from everything.
Dont vote tory. I probably wont vote, i dont know anything about the reform party.

If Albania is a problem and other European countries(eg Germany) have found better solutions, I see no problem in copying them. I cant accept the UK pulling up the drawbridge and banning asylum claims from anywhere except its own political causes (eg Hong Kong and Ukraine). You can't fairly ban irregular arrivals and deny any means of regular arrivals to claim asylum. That is I suspect illegal and feels like posturing for the tabloids and the UKIP vote. Rwanda is another hugely expensive tabloid gimmick The problem with Albanians was an own goal by Theresa May with her Modern Slavery Act. The definition of "trafficking" was so vague that almost anybody can claim to have been trafficked. When the Albanians realised this they just all claimed to have been "trafficked" and they couldn't be returned to Albania without legal challenge. So it's sensible to define "trafficking" more tightly. But I see that Mrs May is up in arms about tampering with her badly worded law so I'd expect that there's going to be some opposition to even this simple and sensible change. Banning claims for asylum from those who, by our own law, have entered the country illegally is against international law, but international law in this area was drafted many years ago and is no longer fit for purpose. And we don't have to obey international law if it conflicts with our own laws. There's no central body to enforce it and it's not that unusual for countries to flout certain laws. If the 1951 Geneva Convention (or whatever) is effectively meaning that anybody can illegally enter the country and claim asylum - then it should be changed.

The bit they didn’t mention: “...Part of Sunak’s strategy — although not one he dwelt on — is to fast-track and largely accept many of those waiting for their asylum claims to be processed [that’s the 140,000+ backlog ed.]. One MP in a marginal Conservative seat said he had several hundred asylum seekers in his constituency who were put up in hotels and unable to work while their claims were processed. That meant they had nowhere to go and so all his constituents saw were large groups of mainly young men hanging around. By processing their claims rapidly and allowing them to work and assimilate into communities, the government hopes that the most “visual” element of the crisis will be eliminated.” [emphasis added] www.thetimes.co.uk/article/rishi-sunaks-migrant-strategy-is-a-big-challenge-and-an-even-bigger-gamble-srt0gcv5w

Your article is behind a paywall Dan but it is clearly a ridiculous situation to have loads of people hanging around unproductively for months and often years while a faceless bureaucracy sits on its hands. Obviously its bad for our country due to cost but also its very bad for the humans affected as well with no idea what is going on no communication and no ownership of their lives. It is in everyone's interests for cases to be determined quickly and fairly.
