Originally of course only the richest 10% of the MEN in the country had a vote, NO woman had.
They had a cosy chat among themselves and picked someone to go to Westminster in their name. There were no salaries, so only the independently wealthy, or the corrupt, put their names about.
But those sent did have a grasp of what mattered to the 10% of men who voted for them, and acted accordingly
The other 90% of men, and all the women, we're just left to go fuck themselves, or each other
It does, regrettably, stand to reason that only those with an IQ approaching insanity have the necessary skill to understand the job.
The rest just do what they are told.
It doesn't matter to them anyway. They'll make millions and squirrel it away abroad

Sure they enjoyed being rich, but as gentlemen they had a responsibility to the country, so they would have picked wisely. Rich people are generally the smart ones. I got into reading on of their publications where they were pretty frank about their motives. Once you have all the money you ever need, you start seeking other forms of reward. You want to go down in history for having achieved something and get your statue in the town square.

Of course he pays more and more and gets less and less - the larger the size of the Pubic Sector the less growth you get, and the Tories were just as keen as Labour in increasing the size of the State.
The present government thinks that football needs to be regulated by politicians and I see that there have been calls now for the government to regulate the price of tickets at pop concerts - seems that there is nothing that would not be improved by a bit of political meddling.

Couldn't have said it better! what that he said he had more money 15yrs ago i agree Actually you have to go back to about 2004 in my case But in terms of disposable income in real terms, I have never had as much disposable income as I had in the late seventies. When Callaghan was paralysed by the unions and I was able to make what I could dancing round the government in it's bogged down state

The Keynesians believe they can solve the boom and bust problem, but they can't - or rather, they will just create an even bigger problem in its place. i think we are about to see this

What was interesting was not what he said, but how it changed the panel.

What was interesting was not what he said, but how it changed the panel. He spoke the truth andrea and the panel didnt have the guts to dispute the mans take on the showers that runs the UK both before the last GE and since..

Much as I was no fan of Thatcher she was dead right in there’s no such thing as public money only taxpayers money.
This is what’s forgotten….conveniently by the arrogance of the Westminster bubble.

Having said such will it make a difference?, no. A pannelist did contradict him, saying that being in government was like having things coming at you all the time etc, how tough it was. Like my job then.....and yours. The fundamental truth is that who we chose as leaders cant lead or be competent, the very roots of this debacle need changing.

To be honest he just came out with populist nonsense. The man has zero brains, he is just parroting some attacks lines he has heard.
Liz Truss (or the Tories) caused a small blip, what really fucked us was the Financial Crisis, Covid, Europe's over reliance of Russian oil and gas... and EU's stupid free movement policy which flooded the country and caused the population to rocket by 6 million. The economy then became addicted to cheap foreign Labour so we let in another 3 million... and now we have 10 million ABOVE what we planned for.
The failure to regulate against the Financial Crisis was both a Labour / Tory error. Locking down too hard during Covid was also a Labour / Tory error. However, the public take their share of the blame too. They lapped up the cheap, high risk credit, and they sure as shit enjoyed partying at home while on Furlough.
The truth is, politicians won't tackle the deep structural problems we have, because the public would rather bury their heads in the hands and pretend all our problems are because the "Tories crashed the economy", or because Labour "tax and spend too much".
We have 10 million extra people. We need new towns and cities, new road, new reservoirs, new hospitals, new schools... literally 10% more of everything just to stay still. The problem is we don't have any fucking money because we are already living beyond our means. To make it worse we actually believe we are heavily taxes, which is utter bollocks, we have one of the lowest tax burdens in the West.
