Sorry folks off out now. Speak later. Oh no you cant be serious, ZG don't go... I don't know how I'm going to cope, do ProBoards provide therapy?.. Bless you, I'm back. And hey. Considering the number of people who quote me, I can't be doing too bad on the interest scale. I only let people know I'm going out because some think if you don't reply your being rude or running away.

Funny you should say that but there are a lot of farmers around here and one of them ( a councillor afaik) that lives near me owns some of the land that the proposed solar farm is going to be built on . He is getting stick for going along with it ..but …he reckons that farming pays shit money and I believe him . He will get a fee or rent first leasing the land and that will help the family pay the bills . Its a bit of an insight living in the hayseeds . As for the inheritance tax , it’s going to shaft a lot of farming families . Net zero will ensure farmers are slowly pushed out of business and behind closed doors governments are on board with it, not just in this country but across Europe. It's been happening for a few years, we're being slowly pushed towards veganism, kids and clueless lefties are brainwashed with bullshit about cows farting pose a threat to humanity, as if eating a nut cutlet could somehow offset China burning 4½ billion tonnes of coal a year or Putin launching nuclear weapons. It's too stupid for words, it's mind boggling. If I were a religious man I would thank god that Trump was back in the Whitehouse, and I sincerely hope he scraps woke and this net zero insanity. Well if anyone knows about old farts, its you Red.

Funny you should say that part two. According to the solar farm planners there will be sheep grazing around the solar panels . Not only that but there will be a shit load of ‘ bio diversity’ around too. Around our village there has been a lot of pockets of land planted with different types of plants suitable for bees and butterflies etc .I suspect they could be used to grow crops after the solar panels are erected . I don’t imagine that net zero will stop farms producing meat . There are huge parts of our fields here used to grow ,hay, straw and animal feeds ( as well as biofuel) , its pig , sheep and chicken city out here . One local farm has an emu ! However hopefully Monte will notice and post . He knows a lot about farming stuff. And a lot of the fields being proposed for solar panels are problem ones with poor yields. They tend to grow grass well and are ideal for livestock, but often the number of animals per acre is too low to be profitable, So a mix of livestock and solar works well.

Did you miss the farmers protests in Holland, Belgium and France earlier this year. It is also no secret that Starmers left wing government are very pro EU or that Monte is a raving lefty. No, they want to reduce livestock, not close farms.

Here's where I have a problem Ok so there is a field And there are the solar panels set up in it How is the grass going to grow under these panels when they take all the light and leave nothing underneath them for the plants to absorb. Yes, I understand that there will be vegetation around the panels Yes I understand that sheep and maybe even Welsh black cattle might be able to graze on that. The Welsh black is a breed engineered through quite a period of animal husbandry to thrive on poor quality feed on sparse Welsh hills But surely the overall productivity MUST be reduced ... Yes its reduced a bit, but in reality the solar panels are tilted towards the sun and create a relatively small shadow. They also tend to be in fields with poor yields, that suffer flooding or have poor soil quality, in many fields in the UK the particles are too fine, caused by years of ploughing, harrowing etc. Its why we are seeing more and more fields being left for a year to allow natural processes to restore them.

I think you are stating the bleedin obvious. Sadly not. There is often more to things than first appears on a superficial glance.

The result will be that farms will close and buy out schemes are in operation. The idea is to reduce nitrogen and is for many reasons stated but tellingly 'and fulfil the Netherlands’ climate obligations.' It is self destruct in the name of a cause rapidly losing any basis in reality and becoming a cult as opposed to a policy to be argued for.

So you decrease the light reaching land and productivity will not necessarily come down. It may change but that is not what was indicated and any change is likely to be less productive than before.

Yes like toxins and the release of soil-carried pathogens which results in an increase in air particulate matter which has the effect of contaminating water reservoirs....And solar panels are not recyclable like the nut zero idiots would have us all beleive..

They are looking to re-balance the mix. And yes it is about climate change, but that's because the vast majority of people are no longer pretending it doesn't exist, is natural, is harmless. You need to catch up.

We should ban cars then. They're the biggest culprit by far. I know BOLLOX, Fuck off Zany. There, I've answered for you.

That relatively small shadow must be the maximum shadow that can be cast as the tilt is to capture the maximum amount of light. They tend to be in fields of poor yield in that specific area or on that particular farm, they may be yields that farms in other areas would kill for.

You need to catch up. I suppose you do know that producing DAP is one of the most enviromentally damaging process next to burying nuke waste....
It is produced by treating finely ground rock phosphate with sulfuric acid or by smelting (burning) rock phosphate with coke and silica in an electric furnace and reacting with water.
