Gun deaths account for 0.013 deaths per hundred thousand people in this country. The death toll from guns is extremely LOW. The rare cases in which guns are used to murder, tend to be illegal firearms like the Vz Skorpion used to murder Ashley Dale in Liverpool. That gun was already illegal, how do you totally stop criminals breaking the law?
Knife murders on the other hand, are a serious problem.

Firearm homicides rare in England and Wales
In 2022/23, there were 244 knife homicides in England and Wales, compared with 282 in 2021/22, which was the highest figure in recent years. By comparison, homicides which involved the use of a firearm were far less common, with just 29 in the 2022/23 reporting year. With strict gun laws and low levels of ownership, the UK contrasts starkly with the United States, which has struggled with high levels of gun violence. Although some specialist police officers in England and Wales are licensed to carry firearms, the majority of police officers are unarmed. In 2022/23, for example, there were just 6,038 armed police, out of around 150,697 police officers.

So guns are not a major problem. This case is just extremely sad. The UK needs its own Dignitas.

If I'm ever in a terminally ill situation, for example, early stage dementia, I'll call the Police whilst I still have my wits about me, and they'll be able to collect my guns and be able to recover my body. There's no process in our country to have an assisted humane dignified death. The problem is, it's a right bugger for whoever has to discover you. And that's before the cleanup process.
It is, happily, not something i have had to deal with yet. Ask me how i feel about it at the end of this month

One of my friends was behind the wheel of a lorry when a suicidal man stepped out in front of him. Absolutely horrible for anyone else to witness.
But, if I had a terminal insufferable illness that was going to get worse and worse, I'd find a way to end it without leaving a firearm out to get stolen.
