Slavery sounds good to me, we pay illegals to listen to radio 2 in the day time, make them earn the incredible favour were doing them. Only socialists can do stuff like this, label illegal immigrants as illegal, then pay them to be illegal, then givethem the life of riley. Its not slavery anyway, work for pay is normal. But not in britain. Productive jobs help the economy, but they have to be available first. Thatcher destroyed so many such jobs, Starmer is set on reintroducing such jobs by encouraging new start ups thus replacing the ones destroyed by the Conservatives.

One of the reasons Thatcher was able to transform the economy was because she didn't have millions of low skilled/no skilled illegals to pay for. I believe the illegal hotel bill is or was £15 million a day, but this government refuse to say how much it is now.

Imagine how much worse the Chinese situation would be if they did not do so much to produce green energy? You make an unfair comparison anyway. " United Kingdom is about 39 times smaller than China. China is approximately 9,596,960 sq km, while United Kingdom is approximately 243,610 sq km, making United Kingdom 2.54% the size of China. Meanwhile, the population of China is ~1.4 billion people (1.3 billion fewer people live in United Kingdom). To me the point made by such a chart is not national bragging rights, but an illustration of how futile it is to hobble ourselves excessively to reduce our Co2 output. We only have a certain amount of control. How many pensioners are you going to allow to die of exposure, so that little blue line can go 1% lower? Producing cleaner air in the UK is not a futile pursuit. It is the right thing to do, and it is the sensible thing to do. Apart from anything else it is agreed that fossil fuels have a limited future. Would you care to give an example of how the UK has hobbled itself as you claim in "is to hobble ourselves excessively to reduce our Co2 output"? You can be and have been very nasty with some of your comments. I AM NOT ALLOWING ANY PENSIONERS TO DIE. The WFA cut, which I have posted more than once that I disagree with, is about balancing the UK economy. A balanced economy would be extremely beneficial for the UK.

Thatcher "transformed" the economy by almost reaching 4million people jobless. all or most of whom along with their families would have had to rely upon government hand outs. She had the good fortune to take office just as OUR THEN OWNED North Sea oil came on full flow. Add to that the selling off of the Family silver while the NHS and most of State Education sank lower and lower, and it is clear that she only survived by good luck and flogging off our assets. And leaving the costs of rescuing of the NHS and State Education for the next Labour government.

Point out the obvious and suddenly they want to talk about something else.

Reason being the UK had not kept pace with Manufactures from overseas producing goods faster and cheaper flooding into the UK, on top of that the Union's refused to adapt to better working more efficient methods that reduced costs, gross overmanning , plus demanding unaffordable pay rises they priced themselves and their members out of work The Tories inherited a broken economy, then of course the " Winter of Discontent" arrived strike after strike Jobs went hand over fist, all orchestrated by the Unions the rest is history the electorate kept the Tories in power for 18 years for that reason

Killing off OAPs on £218 a week is about ''balancing the economy'' in your opinion? That's a horribly new low - even for a far lefty apologist like you

Unfortunately virtue signalling (whether it be slavery, racism, net zero etc etc) is now the defining characteristic of the progressive left in this country. You are conflating the historic - slavery - with issues that are still current, eg racism and net zero. And shock horror, genuine left wingers do actually see racism and climate crisis as problems to be addressed. I don’t think there’s single person on here whatever their position on the political spectrum supports slavery, nut zero is a different issue I was watching the news the other night can’t remember if it was the beeb or itv but they were wittering on about an African country suffering a long drought they went on to say that we contribute so many hundred times more in emissions than they do. Whilst this true we are for now a first world nation and they a third world with much smaller population. I don’t mind they point the obvious out considering the above facts, what I do object to is the “this is all your fault and you should be ashamed agenda” now if they went on to say however because China,India and so many other nations are still building coal fired power stations apace and their emissions make ours insignificant in comparison that would be acceptable, but they don’t. This is all part of the self flagellation agenda that we are guilty for the past and present and should be ashamed of ourselves but we are not. As I said we are a first world nation for now, because of the actions of different administrations over the last few decades that is no longer a certainty, they have all neglected long term planning which is why where we are now at the mercy of other nations for our essentials, power water etc. They all went down the short term route to try and ensure they held on to power, carpet baggers all and if there had been a nod to long term planning we’d now have a reliable and relatively cheap supply of our utilities instead of being hostage to others.

I know Rightists don't like the truth and have a serious weakness where their objectivity should be. I would remind all Rightists that people are not who you were born to be, they are who they have learnt to be. The more extremist they are, the more damaged they have been.
