Starmer’s Government has completely lost grip, says former Blair adviser... Sir Keir Starmer’s Government has “completely lost grip”, a former senior adviser to Sir Tony Blair said after Sue Gray was ousted from her role as No 10 chief of staff. John McTernan, who was Sir Tony’s political secretary in Downing Street, said the Government was “delivering drift” rather than change. Asked what had gone wrong for Labour just three months after its landslide general election victory, Mr McTernan told Times Radio... ... "The Government has completely lost grip, I think, a grip on their operations, a grip on the media grid and they don’t dominate communications and that has been because they have lacked a political narrative and the political drive and momentum...". www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/10/07/politics-latest-news-keir-starmer-sue-gray-labour-budget/Even hard line lefties like Alister Campbell are criticising Starmer, and political commentators say the reason there have been no press releases about the budget is because it's all bad news and the government want to hold off the inevitable bad headlines until the last possible moment. I wonder how many people are now regretting voting for a Labour government.

Apparently Robert Jenrick is calling for an inquiry because he claims Sue Gray blocked 'sensitive' documents going to the prime minister.
This government seem to be stumbling from one cock up to another, and we havent had the budget yet. How long has Starmer got?..

Sue Gray has switched to a different job for the government, she was noy ousted, and she did not resign. But of course the Right wing press are putting the spin on, making things up.
After 3 months, the early economic data is looking promising, UK Bond yields have risen, meaning that the markets have confidence in the government. The UK construction sector grew at its fastest rate in September in over two years. Interest rates are expected to fall again, and inflation looks like it will fall further.
We have had 14 years of piss poor, miserable growth, a stagnating economy, living standards falling, and public services falling apart at the seams.
Three months is no where near long enough to judge the government on its economic performance, my prediction is that the Markets will be jittery around the time of the Budget, because certain business sectors are probably going to be hit with some form of windfall taxes, rumours of an annual levy on tobacco companies, and larger companies making good profits will pay more CGT.
Its not going to take very much to beat the abysmal record of the previous government

Its not going to take very much to beat the abysmal record of the previous government Don't talk bloody rubbish. There was a power struggle between Gray and McSweeney, and Gray lost. Just 100 days into this calamitous government and Starmer loses the chief of staff he appointed, makes you wonder who's really in charge. Rather than governing the country Starmer seems to be preoccupied with gathering freebies, he exemplifies the term champagne socialist like no politician in my lifetime. The man is an embarrassment.

It's people like you who support this incompetent Marxist rabble that have caused this mess, you might just have a little humility and realise just what you have done.

The new government have not created any mess, nothing is "calamatous", the Labour Party is not Marxist, and top advisors were reshuffled, partly because two people either did not get on, or see eye to eye.
No big deal, all hysterically whipped up by The Telegraph, Daily Mail and Express
No Primeminister orany MP has accepted more freebies than Boris Johnson, including Keir Starmer.

If this was a Tory government, it would not have been hyped up by the Right wing press The Prime Minister has not lost his chief of staff, he just has a different one, and it is no big deal. Sue Gray continues to work for the Labour Party in a different role which she has said she is happy about. Another story about nothing

She now reports to a person who reports to the person who has replaced her. A demotion of two rungs And key factors she was given control of are now handed to a totally different area in the number 10 infrastructure where the powers that be think they should have been all along I'm really enjoying this. Pity she still keeps her bloody civil service pension
