Starmer has absolutely no legal right to sign these islands away, who the fuck does he think he is? Since when has any decision as major as this been left in the hands of one man and one party, issues like this have to go to the vote, this utter lunatic needs stopping in tracks, he'll be flogging off Buckingham Palace to foreigners next, I hope King Charles has all the sovereign valuable artifacts and paintings nailed to the floor with this lunatic on the loose. The right wing press are ( as usual ) full of shite the right wing press? the guardian was reporting too that the Argentinians are smelling weakness regarding the Falkland Islands after starmer rightly or wrongly handed over the Chagos Islands. You do talk some utter guff on here witch finder. www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/oct/05/uk-resolutely-committed-to-its-overseas-territories-says-foreign-minister Argentina’s foreign minister, Diana Mondino, promised “concrete action” to ensure that the Falklands, the British-controlled archipelago that Argentina calls the Malvinas and claims as its own, are handed to Buenos Aires.
She said: “Following the path we have already taken, with concrete actions and not empty rhetoric, we will recover full sovereignty over our Malvinas Islands.”
The Falklands’ governor, Alison Blake, has already sought to reassure residents that the UK’s commitment to the territory is “unwavering”.
On Friday, Starmer was asked to guarantee that no other British overseas territories would be signed away, and he responded: “The single most important thing was ensuring that we had a secure base, the joint US-UK base; hugely important to the US, hugely important to us.

Wrong - Starmer has every right The Chagos Islands do not legally belong to the United Kingdom, this fact has been ascertained by both the United Nations and The International Court Of Justice. The government is merely abiding by their rulings, but also putting right a shamefull wrong committed by the British government. The government have absolutely no plans what so ever to open negotiations with Spain on the sovereignty of Gibraltar, or to discuss the Falkland Islands with Argentina. The right wing press are ( as usual ) full of shite He has NOT got the right fiddles he is a frigging dictator...

Please link to the labour manifesto where it was explicitly stated that the Chagos were to be handed over to Mauritius as a priority act within labours first 100 days (as an aside - can you imagine any cabinet meetings where the Chagos may have been mentioned Ginger growler and Lammy: Chagos? Isn't that the new Mexican place in Westminster where you went with moneybags Alli)?

He's lost the plot, power has gone to his head, he needs some sort of counselling, he's dreamt of being in power for so long that once he got it he doesn't know what to do with it, even his own party both front and back benchers are getting concerned about his worrying dictatorship, most of us knew he was going to be a dire Prime Minister, but even I admit I'm shell-shocked at the breathtaking speed he's causing calamity.

I agree with Andrew Neil , I think starmer is and always has been out of his depth. Could only manage s third of the turnout , a fifth of the overall electorate , against one of the worst tory administrations in history tells us everything about this labour administration.

Boris Johnson and David Cameron said many times that they cannot "rule anything out" or "rule anything in", because to do so would be futile, pointless and its a method of journalists to corner politicians.
GIbraltar
There is a treaty between Spain and Great Britain in which Spain formerly recognises British sovereignty over Gibraltar, this dates back to the 18th century.
The United Nations charter on Self Determination, would conflict with any possible future UN ruling on Decolonization, the people of Gibraltar are overwhelmingly in favour of remaining a British Overseas Territory.
HOWEVER, it must be said that no one knows what the future might hold, for example the people of Gibraltar voted overwhelmingly in favour of REMAIN in the EU referendum, and no matter what anyone may believe, the future of Gibraltar MUST ultimately be decided by the people of Gibraltar, not the British government.
The Falkland Islands
The Falkland Islands have never been part of an independent Argentina, though I believe they were once settled by the Spanish for a brief period in history. Once again, if the United Nations in the future ruled that The Falkland Islands should be ceded to Argentina ( which seems unlikely ), it would then conflict with the UN Charter on Self Determination.
The people of the Falkland Islands have voted in a referendum ( twice ) overwhelmingly to remain an overseas territory of the United Kingdom, and to retain British citizenship.
But again, who knows what the future may hold, the people of The Falkland Islands may one day decide that their economic fortunes might be better with transport and economic links to South America instead of the UK, but living in a town twinned with Port Stanley, I doubt that would happen.
The Chagos Islands situation is a completely different kettle of fish, and cannot be compared to either Gibraltar or The Falkland Islands. The Chagosian people were never, ever consulted on what happened to either them or their homeland.

The bookies are taking bets on him being gone before Christmas, when bookies start laying out odds they have it on good authority, Sue Gray has gone, because as you say a load more sleaze to come out.

I dont think anyone takes see 2 seriously jonsky , he's just an old out of date crank that is part of the forums furniture. His politics are from a different era , in a world long gone. If he called the greens Caroline Lucas , or for example the labour mp Clive Lewis "rightists " for criticising starmer and co I doubt anyone would be surprised.
