Well, his dad made him a tool, and it seems he's proving it daily Starmer's latest claim is that a relative of his was torpedoed during the Falklands war Several papers seem keen to look into this It seems one of his relatives was on board one of the ships that were hit by the Argentinians. It's a shame Starmer doesn't seem to give a fuck about the details. Because as others have said, if that WERE true, his uncle was serving on the General Belgrano Which would explain his hatred of Brits of Pensionable Age....

www.msn.com/en-gb/money/other/humiliation-for-labour-as-1bn-investment-pulled-out-after-angela-rayner-s-attack/ar-AA1s6vdD?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=012d420c6d794c98b7a8b9100783a1fd&ei=20The Tories hit out at the Labour Government after its first major investment summit suffered an embarrassing blow. P&O Ferries owner DP World pulled a planned announcement of £1 billion investment in its London Gateway container port following criticism by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and Transport Secretary Louise Haigh. The investment was due to be unveiled at the flagship summit in London on Monday where Sir Keir Starmer will pitch the UK as "open for business" as part of his bid to drive growth into the country. But DP World boss Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem will no longer attend the event after Ms Rayner and Ms Haigh called P&O Ferries "unscrupulous" and "exploitative". The shipping company sparked controversy in 2022 when it sacked 800 employees and replaced them with cheaper overseas agency staff. Shadow Business and Trade Secretary Kevin Hollinrake said: "On the eve of this much vaunted inward investment event, this is a body blow for the Government and shows that Labour Cabinet ministers have never been in business, don't understand business and don't know how to talk to business. They just haven't got a clue.

Well at least some of us wise ones can say ..... We told you so
You can't feel sorry for the dingbats who voted for them, if we held a General Election tomorrow the result would be much different.
There is not one single aspect of UK life that is going to benefit from a Labour government ..... well with the exception of the illegal boat people and our own homegrown dossers

Pillocks .
“ Announcing moves to end fire and rehire in the employment rights bill for workers this week, Rayner said the actions of P&O Ferries was “outrageous” and “exactly why we’re taking bold action”.
In interviews on Wednesday, Haigh said she had boycotted P&O Ferries and told the Department for Transport to have no dealings with either the ferry firm or its owning group.
Haigh said on Wednesday: “I’ve instructed my department to have absolutely no contact with P&O Ferries or DP World unless it is literally on safety grounds. The department is not to have anything to do with them, and certainly not engaging with them.”
She added: “We are a government that wants to work in partnership with business and the workforce, but not with rogue operators.”

It's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other in my mind.
Yes the Labour ministers are total dimwits Yes the firm was correct in thinking the bad publicity makes doing business here untenable (they said the customers would boycott them).
But
Over in the Arab states is a system that is extremely ugly. The UAE is a prime example. You get two classes of people. The one class are treated as animals and the other as the elite. The elite class go much further than poor working conditions and serious reprisals if anyone contravenes any of their rules. The is serious sexual exploitation as well. The last point is too disgusting to go into detail but put it this way. If they did the same here they would be locked up for double-digit years.
And then
there is the point about capital. The British are out of capital and mostly in debt. If you want a one billion investment, it is hard to raise on our shores. This investment comes from various sources. We get some from EU countries. We get a lot from the US. A while back it was the Japs with the investment capital and lately the Chinese have the capital, but also the Saudis are trying to diversify away from oil so invest in a lot of stuff like sports areas and football teams. Each source of investment has its downsides, but you really have to watch it with the Saudis. They see themselves like royalty, and you have to have very good manners. They are the kind that would think nothing of chopping your head off if you insulted them.
And finally
I think Labour are well out of their depth. We're a compromised nation who have done some shady business with some shady people.
