The financial wheels are coming off the wagon as countries switch allegiance to the BRICs meaning politicians don't have enough funds to fix everything we need so need masking to protect this comes in. Tax havens have not helped either. Green policies are also making us poorer and the former 3rd world does not care unless they are a low lying island. Obviously there is always corruption through lobbying and financial payments. Good point, most wealthy individuals and businesses are now looking at tax havens or tax avoidance or evasion, Labour are a prime example of why they have been forced to do that, wealthy individuals like plumber Charlie Mullins selling up and moving out, do I blame him, absolutely not.
Most have paid their fair share of taxes in the UK, but why would we want to clobber them and punish them for being successful, it sends out the complete wrong message, it doesn't pay to be hard working tax paying individuals or businesses because the government will punish you.
Typical Labour completely clueless, hence the reason they end up bankrupting the UK, because there aren't enough wealthy individuals or businesses left to fund their daydreams.

Indeed but the post was a question about supporting a policy from a politician that I did agree with. I do , in principle, agree with the three policies mentioned but ( as said) I’m not sure whether she is clever enough to make it work . Imo a four day week for HMRC telephone staff probably wouldnt be a problem . In the right hands many of Labours plans would be beneficial, but the emphasis is on the words ... 'in the right hands'.
Let's face it, Starmer/Rayner/Reeves/Lammy ... is a recipe for disaster.
Hence my original point “if she is clever enough not to make a hash of it“.

Has our politics become about the personalities rather than the policies? Looking at most of the forum, far more effort is put in to criticising the politicians themselves, rather than the actual policies? Could you ever support a policy coming from a politician who you don't normally agree with? It always has been. The personality of politicians will affect the policies that they proffer. Maybe it's changed, but I just think it's worse. Maybe we just have worse politicians and that's contributed to it?

Says andrea who witnessed the Labour witch-hunt character assassination on Johnson, because he dare have a sip of wine and nibble of a cake for his birthday. The same reason Trump has had two assassination attempts on his life because the opposition democrats are continually running their presidential campaign on trashing Trumps personality and personal life rather than his politics. Watch andrea start making lefty excuses .... lol It always has been. The personality of politicians will affect the policies that they proffer. Maybe it's changed, but I just think it's worse. Maybe we just have worse politicians and that's contributed to it? So what are you thoughts on your own subject matter, it would appear that you agree then that the two assassination attempt's on Trumps life are due to the personal assassination of Trumps personal/private/business life by the Democrats, and not his political stance?

Maybe we just have worse politicians and that's contributed to it? There were plenty of ‘ characters’ in high office in the time of Wilson, Heath and Thatcher. There were plenty of bad politicians too. I think social media smothers them . There were many challenging interviews with people such as Robin Day who probed politicians with grace and rapier wit. Nowadays interviews with third rate interviewers turn into rows and social media becomes a tsunami of hate .

On a serious note, how Labour treated Johnson and demonised him over his sip of wine and nibble on a cake, it's any wonder some nut job didn't take aim at Johnson and his family targeted by some nut job, just like when Rayner said ....... ' Tory scum' ... Tory MP David Amess was murdered by a nut job.
All this badness and nastiness is all left wing hatred, how do we know? ... because it's only right wing politicians who are threatened or their lives are at risk from left wing ...NUTTERS.
