Germany’s far-right AfD party is on course for big gains in regional elections in the eastern states of Thuringia and Saxony, the latest polls showed on Friday. Nearly 5 million Germans will cast their votes on Sunday in a closely-watched election, widely seen as a test for Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his left-liberal coalition government. A poll by Forsa research institute found that 30% of voters in Thuringia would give their vote to the anti-immigrant AfD party, making it the biggest party in the state parliament. www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/germany-s-far-right-afd-set-for-big-gains-in-regional-elections/3317223I take issue with AfD being described as 'far right' simply because they want immigration controls. AfD are certainly right wing, but only a deluded lefty would describe the party as fascist or Nazi, which are far right.

As Vinny said it is hardly surprising considering only last week a Syrian "refugee" went on a stabbing rampage ironically at festival for diversity.
Yet, I still don't think dimwitted lefty liberals get it, no matter how hard it bangs on the door. According to them the security of nations' citizens is considered "far-right" when it is rightly pointed out people don't want all
and sundry rocking up on their doorstep requesting handouts one minute and stabbing citizens to death the next. I would argue, these pearl clutches who concern themselves with the human rights of these terrorists have their fellow
compatriot's blood on their hands with their do gooding nonsense.

www.yahoo.com/news/germanys-far-afd-claim-govern-082829152.htmlNational leaders of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) claimed a right to join coalition governments in the German states of Thuringia and Saxony after making strong gains in elections on Sunday. The AfD led in Thuringia with 32.8% of the vote, while the party finished a close second in Saxony with 30.6%, only 1.3 percentage points behind the centre-right Christian Democrats (CDU), according to preliminary official results. But.... The AfD is almost certain to remain frozen out of power in both states, despite the strong results, as every other party has categorically ruled out any coalition talks with the far right. Politicians from other parties have denounced the AfD as a threat to Germany's democratic traditions and far too extreme to govern. Whatever happened to democracy?

What is becoming apparent is that populist parties cannot win under PR as the others can gang up to say they won't work with them.
It is strange that here Labour can win with less than 35% I guess they are populist in a way at least to those working in the Union sectors.

Germany has started to Deport Afghan Criminals who have been convicted of Criminal Offences in Germany, Austria is also going to do the same IMHO The right thing to do Yes I listened to a German commentator earlier who said the government were deporting illegals and failed asylum seekers back to Afghanistan, and Austria is planning to do the same. I wonder if Starmer will continue to insist that illegals in the UK can hide behind the ECHR. Of course, the only reason the German government have resumed deportations is because the ruling left wing social democrats are very unpopular due to mass immigration, which is why support for AfD continues to rise. Pro EU pro immigration left wing politicians who for years have ignored the majority have only themselves to blame.

I agree any Government that does not listen to its citizens is bound to head into trouble and will be voted out, or the people will take to the streets physically in huge numbers
