Out of curiosity, what have you got against the Euro? You appear to favour leaving the UK but retaining the Pound Sterling, why would you want to do that, that doesn't seem to be very European. I would point out that sterling is as much Scotland'd currency as it is that of the rUK That is true.
In 1707 the English bought around one million Scots for £400,000
Which worked out at about 40p a Scot.
Excellent people the Scots, and they do come cheap.

Excellent people the Scots, and they do come cheap. They bought a handful of upper class traitors who then voted for Union. Article 1 was passed by 116 votes to 83. Had the Squadrone Volante held true to their previously stated anti-union stance that faction would have won the day. The outcome of the rest of the Articles would then have been very interesting

Not once you leave the UK it isn't, my question is why would you wish to keep the hated English Pound, why not the Venezuelan Bolívar.

But the use of sterling could be a short term affair - here is an example of a quick change over: Estonia became free in August 1991. By June 1992, it had its own currency, the Kroon, up and running.

Why do have difficulty understanding that simple reality. We would use sterling because we have as much an interest in the currency as the rUK has

The english myth punted by pro union types that scotland was generously reimbursed for the so called state expenses incurred from the onion is exactly that , totall bollocks up there with darien and scotland allegedly being bankrupt.
£398 085 was paid to scotland some 6 months later than promised , but we were made to incur higher union taxes and take on 2 half million of englands 18 million national debt.
Excellent people the english , but they dont half like spending other peoples money and dishing out their cedit card debt to the celts...

But the use of sterling could be a short term affair - here is an example of a quick change over: Estonia became free in August 1991. By June 1992, it had its own currency, the Kroon, up and running. And what sort of a credit rating did the Kroon have, how easy was it for the Estonians to borrow money? The UK has lost its credit rating. Thanks to bankrupt England who cannot live within its means. England has a debt of some £2.8 trillion. Yes that really is £2,800,000,000,000 and rising at over £5,000 per second. Covid and Brexit not included. In the case of Covid that was paid for by QE. In total since 2010 when the tosspots in Westminster took power. That QE in England is now running at over £800 billion. That will be paid back by your grand kids, grand kids, grand kids. On top of that England will have a energy problem of £600 billion on top of a never ending £1 billion a year on decommissioning . When it has to close 8 nuclear power stations and build nine new ones. That will be paid for by the tax payer. That's me. Going by Hinkley point and owned by the French, as even the the Chinese pulled out of that one. Billions over budget and years behind schedule. But heh you put your price on it. Now why should I as a Scottish tax payer pay for your energy, on a product that energy rich Scotland exports by the bucket load. The question you need to ask. Bankrupt England will find it very hard to borrow. Now you know the answer. On top of that. When Scotland goes its merry way. Bankrupt England will have to borrow at a minimum of some £100 billion just to stand still. If you require further info. Read the link below. I posted to another who like you does not have one scoobie about the economy of Scotland or its politics. In your case clearly the English economy as well. I suggest you ask questions about the English economy. Now the worst in the developed world.. And dragging energy rich Scotland with it. Only Russia is in a worse state. To put this in perspective. In the 8 minutes it took me to post this. Bankrupt England's debt rose by £2,400,000. That's £2.4 million. Would you care to correct any of that. ukpoliticsdebate.boards.net/post/26244/threadwww.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2020/08/10/currency-is-the-number-one-issue-in-scottish-independence-debate/www.thenational.scot/politics/23027678.richard-murphy-nationalist-want-tied-english-currency/

England does not have any debt. It's UK debt, not English debt, you airborne pillock. And if Scotland does at some point become independent then on day 1 of independence Scotland will have to pay its share of the national debt which 12 months ago was in the region of £180 billion. And lets not forget, as long as Scotland are using sterling then independent or not, the Bank of England will be setting Scotland's monetary policy from London. The interest rates on the debt an independent Scotland owes will be set by the Bank of England, is this your idea of independence, lol. JD, like it or not, Scotland will never realise true independence, and you know it. Scotland needs the UK or the EU and since Scottish nationalists have always been so very anti English, they pretend that being governed from Belgium is somehow independence, lol. Honestly, you couldn't make it up. Besides, in the northern reaches of Great Britain your leader wee Jimmy appears to be about as popular as a rich Tory on an inner city sink estate. JD, Scotland won't realise independence and wee Jimmy's days are numbered. I mean ffs how long as she been there? Scottish nationalists must be keen on dictators?

Look, if you really have to go you have my blessing. I don't want you to, we are stronger together. It's not surprising really after the beatings we've given you over the years, we deserve it for Culloden alone. I still love you but if you really love someone you have to set them free. I don't care if you use the pound or take on your old lover's franc if you really want to. I only have one condition... ...and this is a deal breaker, no excuses. If you want to go you have to take Liverpool with you.

JD, Scotland won't realise independence and wee Jimmy's days are numbered. I mean ffs how long as she been there? Scottish nationalists must be keen on dictators? What is anti English about it. Which part of the Scottish Government in terms of the UK does not have any borrowing power. So it cannot create something it cannot do. Translated to you, it has a debt. As you magically failed to correct one word I posted And since the SNP took power they have underspent every year. And indeed this year they have underspent by £2 billion. To assist the Scottish public in more cuts the sleaze bags dream up... Have the wankers in Westminster did the same. Apart from flooding the bank accounts of their millionaire donors. As the Scottish Government has already done with child care fees and the effect of the fascists £20 cut on benefit top up. . And to assist business the disaster of Brexit. Even the UK treasury has to admit the English debt is the problem of the RUK and why the UK lost its triple AAA status.. Which part of the statement from the UK Treasury... Better therefore to be blunt and clear, that the full £1.4tn would stay as a liability of England, Wales and Northern Ireland - and that £1.4 trillion is now £2.8 trillion translates to you it is the problem of the Scots. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25712350www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/politics/snp-ministers-urged-less-secretive-28632831www.gov.scot/publications/foi-19-02227/And no matey Scotland does not need the UK and can now no longer afford bankrupt England with its debt, and who cannot live within its means, as I have just outlined. As stated which you magically failed to correct. And while ,Scotland is part of the UK. Which means it is not part of England. Neither is England independent. Not to mention it has to bribe companies to stay in the UK and even the French to stop a problem created by the likes of Enoch Braverman. It is not up to the SNP what direction the Scots will take on joining or not joining the EU. That is a matter for the Scottish voters. Not the English voter. England the only country in the world who voted to make themselves poorer. Dragging Scotland with it. You keep ranting the SNP are anti English. But not once despite having been asked hundreds of times by Scottish posters to produce one link. You failed miserably. Wasting my time by asking. And ignore the continual ignorant absolute jock hating shite being spewed by your country men on this forum. Not to mention the anti Scottish wankers in Westminster who have spent billions of your money and mine on trying to destroy the SNP in General and the legally elected FM of Scotland in particular. And now do not even attempt to hide out and out lies . That you swallow hook line and sinker. Truss totally anti Scottish as she ignored the Scots, as she finally destroyed the economy by Tory rule. As the elected Scottish MPs are ignored in Jock hating Westminster. The muppet Bojoke totally anti Scottish as he wanted the Scots exterminated. Now Sunak refusing a indy ref. And can no longer rant the Union is voluntary. How very fascist of a PM who has been elected by nobody. Not even you. Three PM in a few months. elected by no one in Scotland. How very Italian. And for your info. The bank of England is not a bank. It is a regulatory authority that acts as lender of last resort to UK banks. Scotland will not be in the UK. And apart from that the BofE holds gold reserves of around £300 billion. That would not even cover the PFI debt of English local authority health trusts in England. The BofE is only as good as the next crash. And you are still paying for the last one. Now I have a better idea. As you ranted there was no oil left in the North sea. Believing the fanny spewed in another attempt to destroy the SNP. Having been told by me there is as much left in as has been taken out. Which will be a bonus to energy rich Scotland. As once again the Scottish economy drags bankrupt England out of the manure heap. But I have a better idea. How about you telling me what economic benefit Scotland would gain by remaining part of the UK with the bankrupt debt of England. What was that about anti English fairies. Care to correct any of that. Nah..

JD, honestly, how many times did you land on your head. The Scottish share of national debt is c£180 billion, and thanks to covid and the oil price slump which increased Scotland’s national deficit for 2020-21 from 8.6% of GDP in 2019-20, to 22.4% which is significantly higher than 14.2% for the UK, you don't need to be a forensic accountant to see that Scotland is a basket case. FFS anyone who says Scotland doesn't hugely benefit from being a member of the UK, is either an imbecile or an SNP supporter.

FFS anyone who says Scotland doesn't hugely benefit from being a member of the UK, is either an imbecile or an SNP supporter. Oil would have been a bonus to energy rich Scotland. And the Scottish government would have closed it down. instead it is paying of the English debt. As it did in 1976 On which the UK government will pocket some £28 billion. Now how about correcting what I said. As you spectacularly fail to point to your anti English crap. Or give one economic benefit that Scotland would benefit remaining part of the UK. In terms of basket case. The Scotish government has underspent every year since it took power. And this year underspent by £2 billion. How much did bankrupt England underspend, with its £2.8 trillion dent. So point out how Scotland has hugely benefited. I gave you figures. So how about you giving me yours. And the figures you give are under present constitutional arrangements. Not Scotland on its own. Let me explain it nice and simple. Using GERs Excluding London and the south-east, the rest of England has more than twice Scotland’s deficit while Wales and Northern Ireland are even worse, which just shows how much the City of London financial sector siphons off the profits generated in the rest of the UK. Or let me put it likes this. If GERs was used to calculate lets say the Dutch economy. This is how it would work To calculate the Dutch 'deficit' in the way we calculate Scotland's, the first thing you'd do is take about 20 per cent of Dutch public spending – and stop spending it in the Netherlands. Instead you'd send all that money to London so it could be spent there instead. And yes, that would immediately shrink the Dutch economy and its tax revenue at the expense of further boosting economic growth in London. Just as it does with Scotland. Scotland is the only UK nation to have exported more goods internationally than it has imported every year since records began. In terms of exports per head, Scotland outperforms the UK: Scotland exports £17,455 per head per year, while England exports £8,626 per head per year. Scotland is an exporting powerhouse, whose success has had nothing to do with being part of the UK, but whose future has been jeopardised due to the UK taking Scotland out of the European Union.. . In contrast, England's international trade deficit in goods is massive. Scotland is the only UK nation to have exported more goods internationally than it has imported every year since records began.
