I had a Business to exscape the mundane of life being under the thumb of Business before I started my business I use to work in a coldfood warehouse distribution center for Tesco at nights don't get me wrong I was fairly well paid at £12.00 per hour.plus overtime between 2-4hours at time and half rate.
So no money wasnt the driver off comeing a business man it was I wanted to work for myself .l live in a home passed down by family it been a family home since 1964 , I don't smoke or drink so had little expenditure .
So no money or being rich wasnt the reason I started my business.

Well that has been one of the arguments against means tested welfare for decades - I can remember Barbara Castle railing against means testing for exactly that reason back in the 60's. |

State pension is mandatory you dont have to claim for it.
Pension credits you have to claim for it dont think its anything to do with it being means tested .

You think you are going to win an election on a policy that promises something for 45 years then breaks that promise and wrecks your retirement planning? lol. Do you seriously believe you are going to achieve a "fair" society by demonising and punishing part of it? People have known for 50+ years that you need a private + state pension to be comfortable in retirement. If you are too dumb for save for your own retirement, then why should other people bail you out? Just argue for high taxes for all, then a good state pension for all, at least that would be an honest argument. |

The UK government spent £98.81 billion in 2019/20 on the state pension.
What would you call a good state pension for all .when state pension cost £107 Billion a year thats 2022 with a aging population its going to increase .
Has my figure shows above the spend on state pension was 98.Billion in 2019/20 by today's figure its increased by nearly 10 billion in a 2 yr time span .not sure what the total spend will be next year with the 11% increase awarded .
Since 2010 this Government has been in power the state pension has gone up a staggering 40%
Like I said the state pension is a ticking time bomb it cant continue at this rate.
