It has to rank right up there with some of the worst political red herrings ever, the whole thing couldn't take more than one heavy day arrivals, I bet there were plenty of fingers in that pie.

Like Rwanda was ever going to give any of the £290million back, instead of it just being dead money Starmer could have done some deal, even if it was to send prisoners there, or even set up a holiday camp for young ofenders, to just let them keep £290million with nothing to show is just as bad as Sunak who started it.

£290 million is a decent wedge of cash for sure. However, after five years of Labour government I think we all know the waste will run into £billions rather than £millions, and that's not including the benefits bill for hundreds of thousands of Labour voting illegals.

It’s the ability they have to spend and throw away then tell us we have to tighten our belts.

The reason we had a snap GE because divi Sunak guaranteed the Rwanda flights would be taking off in July, he was obviously told by the legal beagles 'No Chance', when it got to the deadline of November when he had no choice but to call a GE he was already a busted flush, because people would say it's now November and still no Rwanda flights.... now we are saddled with Starmer/Labour.

Perhaps he also knew that prisons were going to run out of room in the next few weeks too? I think there's more than one factor in there, although I do agree with your point.

One of the reasons the prisons are bursting at the seams, we have foreign criminals who should be deported back to their own country to serve out their sentences, the problem is the places they come from don't want them back, they are pleased the UK are accommodating their undesirables, and it's not costing them a penny.

Whilst I don't disagree with the principle, any agreements would have to be bilateral, ie we take British prisoners in return, so I'm not sure how much that would reduce the prison population by.

Approx. 10,00 foreign nationals in UK prisons. Approx. 2500 UK nationals are in prisons abroad. We would benefit from an exchange.

Its not what has been lost BY THE TORIES
Its a matter of what has been saved BY THE NEW GOVERNMENT for ditching a ridiculous and extremely costly mad plan.
The stupid Rwanda Plan would have ended up whereby between 97% and 98% of all illegal immigrants would have stayed right here in the UK, how can anyone in their righ minds even suggest that it would be a deterant ?

The stupid Rwanda Plan would have ended up whereby between 97% and 98% of all illegal immigrants would have stayed right here in the UK, how can anyone in their righ minds even suggest that it would be a deterant ? You can guess all you like but the fact is thanks to Starmer we will never know whether the Rwanda plan would have worked, you can pontificate all you like, but the fact is, we will never know. Starmer said the plan was not a deterrent, but immigrants themselves said it was a deterrent, and the Irish government bitterly complained about immigrants fleeing over the Irish border from Northern Ireland because they were worried about being sent to Rwanda, so to say it was not a deterrent is a lie. Starmer has killed the Rwanda plan which is his privilage, he is the prime minister, but he has replaced it with absolutely nothing. He has no ideas, no plan, other than to concrete over thousands of acres of greenbelt land to build 1.5 million homes for illegals. I absolutely guarantee that within six months many Labour voters will be regretting voting for this government which is likely to become the most unpopular government in modern times.
