Its not what has been lost BY THE TORIES Its a matter of what has been saved BY THE NEW GOVERNMENT for ditching a ridiculous and extremely costly mad plan. The stupid Rwanda Plan would have ended up whereby between 97% and 98% of all illegal immigrants would have stayed right here in the UK, how can anyone in their righ minds even suggest that it would be a deterant ? You can guess all you like but the fact is thanks to Starmer we will never know whether the Rwanda plan would have worked, you can pontificate all you like, but the fact is, we will never know. Starmer said the plan was not a deterrent, but immigrants themselves said it was a deterrent, and the Irish government bitterly complained about immigrants fleeing over the Irish border from Northern Ireland because they were worried about being sent to Rwanda, so to say it was not a deterrent is a lie. Starmer has killed the Rwanda plan which is his privilage, he is the prime minister, but he has replaced it with absolutely nothing. He has no ideas, no plan, other than to concrete over thousands of acres of greenbelt land to build 1.5 million homes for illegals. I absolutely guarantee that within six months many Labour voters will be regretting voting for this government which is likely to become the most unpopular government in modern times. The housing shortage, which has been with us throughout the last 14 years, has got very little to to with immigrants. The fact that even Conservative commentators are saying this is a good plan, and long overdue ought to tell you something. If I were an illegal migrant sitting on the beach in Calais, and if someone told me that by attempting to get to England would result in a 97% or 98% of staying in England, but a 2% chance of been taken to Rwanda, I would take my chance, and so will most illegal migrants, the odds are stacked well in their favour. Most of the small boats are organised by criminal gangs, and the tentacles of these gangs go as far as Syria, Turkey, Vietnam and North Africa. We successfully crack international crime through well organised agencies and international co-operation, and through intelligence. The Prime Minister laid out his plan before the electorate, it is contained within the Manifesto. What we do with crime, the police, MI6 and Interpol is to be also done with the UK Border and Immigration Service, a new "Border Command" is going to be set up. Will it work ? ... I dont know, but it seems to make sense that if we can smash Cocaine gangs and Terrorists, then surely by using the same / similar agencies, we can smash people smuggling gangs.

Christ almighty are you being serious? You claim the housing shortage has nothing, or very little to do with immigration! Mind boggling. The population has increased by 8 million over the past two decades and net immigration is running at 780,000 a year. And you reckon this has got nothing to do with the housing shortage? Incredible. As for 'stopping the boats', Starmer is using this as a smokescreen. He may stop them, or slow them, but the number of immigrants arriving in the UK from the EU/France will increase under this government that is an absolute 22 carat diamond encrusted guarantee. The EU want Starmer to take 100,000 a year and the chances are he will because he's an EU rule taker, but it will not stop illegal immigration. The UK is seen as a soft touch and the only way that will change is to have a proper centre right Conservative government, and after five years of this government, I think that's exactly what people will vote for.

The Rwanda plan. This bill will sit above the Illegal Migration Act 2023 and sets out in law that Rwanda is deemed to be a safe country to which the Secretary of State can remove illegal migrants to in order to have their asylum or human rights-based claim considered there.25 Apr 2024. So presumably, those migrants found to have shown their human rights-based claim or asylum claim, correct, would have been returned to the UK at our expense.
Not very bright really.

Where do you expect all these people to live if not in houses? You think you have won the war on drugs?..

No - they stay in Rwanda. You might be a bit more bright if you actually read the legislation.

Looking on the bright side, it appears the Home Sec is counting on future savings from kyboshing the Rwanda Plan to fund this new agency which is going to 'smash the gangs'.

Yes, no disrespect to many Labour voters, most are good decent hard working people, they just have misplaced loyalty, they have been hoodwinked, or for want of a better word Conned.
It's sad to think once they realise they've been had over, they are going to be very very angry, Labour doesn't know the wrath of the people when it's clear they were conned.
It wont be the disconcerting Tory voters who will give them hell, it will be disgruntled Labour voters who have been taken for a ride, or should I say ....MUGS who will tear a new arse out of them.

Fifty years ago (or perhaps a little earlier) heroin was prescribed to registered addicts, of whom there were a few hundred, on the NHS.
But then something changed, demographically.

The housing shortage began in the early 2000's with a lack of construction in the Blair era. Both private and social housing needed building then at a huge rate, when basic houses could be bought for £30k.
Instead the market was allowed to overheat. It's a huge cause of poverty.

Vin, it's not a 'lack of construction', as you correctly say, the housing crisis has been rising for 20 years, inline with mass immigration. We are building enough homes in this country, more than enough to cope with local/national demand. The problem is, we are not building enough to cope with demand from the rest of the world.
