Apologies for the clickbait, but the last time a European state built up its military having lost a major war was in 1930s Germany. Germany was in economic ruin and people started to blame the Jews. Fast forward to today, and Europe has pretty much lost the Ukraine war and looks weak. It's sanctions have backfired, and pretty much the ultimate insult has now just emerged. You see Russia (the new Jews) has for as long as anyone has known it, been classified officially as a middle income country. It's economy is now booming so it is now just been reclassified as a high income country, as per in the same grouping as the G7. Meanwhile things don't look so good in Germany, once the industrial heartland of Europe according to the PR. You see the parallel with the 1930s is pretty strong. The Jews were hated all the more because they were seen to have the money, when normal Germans were broke.
If you think I'm exaggerating here, I think you should at least listen to what the woman says and decide yourself if this is rational, or whether she has lost her mind and getting those psychiatric delusions of grandeur.

If I understand it correctly, she wants the EU to become a military economy. Different economies at different times concentrate more of their labour on military production. Recently Russia has veered in this direction, but also the Soviet Union before it collapsed and also Nazi Germany.
China's economy though is very much the opposite, where it largely produces consumer products and national civil infrastructure like roads and railways.
My concern for some time has been the UK's manufacturing sector has been declining in all areas except the military, where it is government funded. Where you have two sides engaged in an arms race you end up lose-lose. The rich countries manage to become rich by more of their labour producing products that they benefit from. No one actually benefits from a stack of guns pointing at all ans sundry. You might as well throw that away. It's an economic dead weight.
The problem here is von der Leyden seems to have lost her mind. She is making decisions based on her emotional feelings of having failed agaisnt Russia. She's a super-bitch, like the women who demands her man goes and fights through hatred of so and so.
The UK would be extremity wise not to get mixed up in this woman's domain. The financial markets treat loose cannons very badly (see what happened with Truss, another super bitch). The good news is the EU's loss could be the UK's gain if we look more rational then FDI will hop across the channel.

We are the ones who have done bad by getting involved in a war that was not our concern. This conflict was about those in Ukraine. Ukraine was once a part of the soviet union so Russians would often move there to the industrial areas to get employment. It's like you moving to Wales to get a job and then all of a sudden Wales splits off from England and there is a problem between the two. This industrial part of Ukraine was at one time more Russian than Ukrainian, like there was roughly an East - West split in the country between the Russian supporting people and the Ukraine. They drove the Russians eastwards though.
Indeed the only reason we are involved is because the US wants its mitts on the natural resources of that country. We as a country are controlled by them, and likewise they control the von der Leyen bitch to wreck havoc on the EU to the benefit of the US gaining power over Russia. They want Ukrainian gas to replace the Russian gas to supply Europe. They have forced Europe to buy their LNG at 5x the original gas price. Now the German manufacturing economy is in destruction mode and it is serious. Just you wait. The Germans will not put up with any more economic punishment, and nor will the French who are fully signed up to this suicide as well. By the way, if you care to see what is going on in the French economy, the markets are reacting badly to the new ultra socialist coalition that was basically a stitch-up.
