Where we went wrong under the Tories Firstly, we had Cameron followed by May .. both of whom indulged in cutting the police numbers by 20,000 Then, and astonishingly, came along Boris who then set about recruiting 20,000 police officers, this seems almost unbelievable, but its true. THE PROBLEM ... As Police Federation reps will tell you, is that many professional, experienced and knowledgeable officer have gone in Camerons purge. Our police forces are now less professional, generally younger and less experienced. The Tories have done the damage - as with everything else Since 2010, approximately 23,500 police staff jobs have been lost in England and Wales. These cuts include more than 7,000 reductions in Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) roles1. The decrease in police numbers was part of austerity measures implemented by the Conservative and coalition governments to reduce the deficit. In addition to staff cuts, there was also a reduction of about 20,000 police officers between 2010 and 2019 due to funding cuts. The impact has been felt across various roles, including custody officers, 999 call handlers, scene of crime investigators, and administrative support staff The above was done because Labour had spent so much there was very little of our Tax Money in the Treasury , they hade no choice but to cut Public Spending, by the time Boris was made PM the depleted Treasury Coffers had funds enough to try and recruit more Police. However the pay and working conditions for Police Officers today is not attractive enough to encourage people to join and stay in the Police for 30 years plus, some serving Officers across the country have to use Food Banks the pay is not good enough

Ref the thread title 'How to fix the British police force', the answer is simple. Scrap the college of policing. And replace it with what Nothing. The college of policing has only been in existence since 2012, it is an unnecessary layer of bureaucracy put in place by Cameron/Cleggs coalition government and was the start of woke infecting the police force.

Regardless, the College of Policing, and woke, should be scrapped and the NPIA reinstated. Same horse just a different name the aim is the same IMHO It's the Equalities Act which has forced their hand. It might have been put in place for noble reasons, but like the ECHR, the bastard lawyers have increased their market by extending it ad infinitum. This is known as case law.
Unless you repeal the Equalities Act then you will just see this shit get worse, just as if you stay in the ECHR likewise will happen. This is what we have governments for, to step in when things have gone out of control.

I agree, they need to recruit more full time Officers but the pay and conditions are not good enough IMO we need at least another 100,000 thousand more Officers to Police such a large population
