They jjust cheat the tax payer more then they already do , or even worse perish the thought the kids might have to go to school with the prebs They don't cheat the taxpayer, the school fees is a legal tax claim and there aren't enough teachers as it is and probably not enough spaces. Do you ever think before you use your keyboard? Indeed no cheating, no skulduggery, no tax dodge, usual LOB hate and envy

So where will the kids go when their parents can no longer afford to send them to private schools? Good point.
Maybe the Labour party will re introduce Grammar schools?

Whatever are they like. 😂

Where there'll be some more cash mysteriously Yes that is another problem with this idea. A massive influx from the private sector will make a beeline for the decent State schools and push out the poorer pupils who depend on them - a bog standard comp is all they can expect under this scheme.

LOL - the supporters of State Education are already complaining of sharp-elbowed, middle-class parents snagging all the spaces in the best State schools - just think how much worse your plan will make it.. Tony Blair, Emily Thornberry, Diane Abbott, Shami Chakrabarti, Valerie Vaz & Seumas Milne didn't send their sprogs to the local comp - oh no, those are for the hoi-polloi..

I read somewhere that private schools only educated 7% of the school population.

totheleft3 won't object to paying for a 7% increase in the school budget. He is a leftie and always ready to put his money where his mouth is

Are you saying that people only send their kids to private school as a tax dodge? I have no issues with private schools, but don't see why they should be treated differently.
I stand to be corrected, but I don't think VAT is charged on the provision of private medical services.
It may then be proper to end the charitable status of private schools, or at least limit the extent of the status to 'proper' charitable activities. It seems to me, though, private schools should be in the same position with respect to VAT as private medical providers.
