Well let this be a lesson to all those One Nation Tory MP's who supported Rishi Sunak’s leadership bid: don’t force through a leader against the will of the membership. You do not know better than the people.

Well, the SNP also got wiped out, putting indyref2 to bed for the foreseeable future.
In the end, after 14 years of Tory rule, and things in the cities looking considerably worse, entire high streets full of empty shops, a failing nhs and education system, the people have demanded a change.
With all the buildup to the election, the writing for this result has been on the cards for months, so I doubt anyone can be surprised by it.
Reform will certainly have played their part, no doubt we’ll see by how much when someone has the time to work out how many seats the Tories would have otherwise won, but with only 4? Seats themselves, I imagine the damage done to the Tories, far exceeds the political gain for the reform party.
All in all, the polls were pretty accurate.

We now have a FibDim MP but the Tories + Reform vote was way more than he got.

Very hard to believe that if the Tories had held on for another six months, which they could have the result for them would have been even worse.

Same here - if the Tories had not pissed off their core vote by moving to the left the Tory guy would have retained his seat...

The problem with voting left is that those that do never learn. Essentially it means a far left Britain will be like Lemmings jumping over the cliff. Its the end. Starmer is not far left. Jeez.

Starmer is far more like Blair than Corbyn, and certainly not far-left.
An election will never be won by the far left or right, because people who hold those beliefs are by very definition on the fringes of politics and in a huge minority.
The battleground for any political party is to gain the votes of the centrists, it’s why Corbyn failed, because he was seen as far-left.
And it’s why Starmer & Blair before him won.

So what happened to the great, national hero led, Reform UK surge?
4 Seats - like I predicted (I predicted 2-6).
In only 4 seats were the electorate dumb enough to vote for a snakeoil salesman.
Pleasantly surprised by that.
