Reform took over 7000 votes from JRM. It'll be interesting to see how many seats the Tories lost because of them. Loads.

I called it that he would lose. The idea that Tory viewers wanted something further right is for the birds. There is an option to start again. Start again! Wat do you mean by start again? The only reason JRM lost is because of boundary changes.

Labours shadow paymaster general has lost his seat in Leicester South to some independent Islamic candidate. LOL. This may be revisited by the electoral commission. Jonathan Ashworth was a rising star in the Labour party who was tipped for promotion after the election. However, he was voted out by an unknown Islamic independent who supports Hamas. Lets hear it for postal voting.

4 seats for the Greens now. They are powering ahead, so my vote was not wasted.
And Reform is also doing well, so my vote was not missed

Indeed, I'm looking forward to a few years of not having to care what caricature ghouls like JRM think. Just need England to do the business tomorrow and it will be a corker of a weekend.

Well the polls look to have been pretty accurate - what the result is going to do is highlight the deficiencies in the system.
Starmer has won a 160 seat landslide on 35% support from the electorate - which only slightly higher than the level of support that Jeremy Corbyn got at the last election that was supposed to be an extinction level event for the Labour Party that would keep them out of power for a generation.
Same with the LibDems - they have won 71 seats on a 12% support - almost exactly the same level as last time when they won 11 seats.
When a Government can get such an overwhelming majority on the support of around a third of the electorate then serious questions need to be asked about the state of Democracy in the UK.

Where is the democratic accountability? - you can make a case for a landslide majority under FPTP when you have getting on for half of the electorate supporting you but when you are bouncing around support from just a third it is totally unsustainable.

Democratic accountability! Is it undemocratic if people choose not to vote? I would prefer it if everyone voted, but we live in a democracy, that means people have a choice. Low turnout is the fault of politicians not the electorate.
