The age of consent is 16 normally. It is 18 in regards to relationships between persons where one is in a position of trust, such as a teacher/pupil relationship. The younger child was under 16 when the "Relationship" began. Both were underage for the purpose of the relevant law. She began having sex with him while on bail for sexual activity with the first child, Boy A..."
In committing the first offence she could have mitigated her sentence by claiming an emotional "Mistake" but committing a second, similar offence while already on bail for the first sealed her fate.
And that's before we even get to the horrendous situation of her becoming pregnant by one of these children.
Whatever way you look at it, Joynes is a manipulative serial, predatory paedophile.
For which she's now paying the price.

Exactly , what I can see is that she may appeal against sentence Yep, she may have an appeal against sentence although committing further offences while on bail is rather going to limit her options.
I mean, it's not like she can claim ignorance.
I suppose the court will have to look at what sentence other paedos have received in similar circumstances. If it's in line with those then I suspect she's out of luck.

The sentence though is as much one of arresting declining standards as the punishment of this individual .It reminds people who may be tempted in positions of responsibility of their obligations to young people in their care and also a warning /reminder to young people to 'think' if such a situation arises in their lives . |
