Plus she was in a position of responsibility (of which she'd have been well aware). And the law looks dimly on that (of which she'd also have been well aware). Both boys were over 16 and fully aware of their actions - both could have even have already left school and then no crime would have been committed at all. |

I have never met any teenage boy who needed to be manipulated into getting laid. Really? What about teenage girls? I work with a woman who had her first child at 14 and reckons that she wasn't manipulated (the father was apparently 25). She then went on to have six kids before the age of 20, all by different fathers, and still reckons that she wasn't manipulated. It's twenty years on, her kids don't speak to her and she's on medication for a shit-tonne of depression/anxiety stuff. But she wasn't manipulated. Oh no. And I think that you're missing the point. But then (kindly) I don't think that you have sufficient experience to know that. Yours is a simple prism. |

I cant understand why she was jailed at all. We have record Prison overcrowding and yet they send this poor girl to jail for something that is every schoolboys dream - we have buffoons in charge. Well yes, my thoughts too more or less. OK the boys were under 16 but it was consensual, she didn't rape anyone. She showed poor judgement for sure, but considering she's a maths teacher it's a shame the judge couldn't have come up with something a bit more imaginative than a 6½ year prison sentence. She was arrested for having sex with a 15 year old boy, bailed with a specific condition not to continue sexual activity with any other boy under the age boy, she broke that bail condition and started a sexual relationship with another boy, that would not have gone down well with the Judge IMO As already stated No individual 18 or older can have sex with someone 15 years of age or less, if they don they may be charged with a criminal offence and may receive a 14-year prison sentence. Similarly, the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000 prohibits a person in a position of trust from performing sexual acts with someone who cannot consent, which includes minors and "very vulnerable people". |

I've just been reading through (Courtesy of google) dozens of cases in which thugs who were found guilty of robbery, blackmail, various drugs offences including intent to supply, carrying an offensive weapon, ABH.. the list goes on and on. And I don't think any sentence exceeded three years, and in many cases the offenders didn't even get custodial sentences. I'm talking about thugs, people who regard being arrested as an occupational hazard. And yet in none of the cases I just briefly looked over were any of the offenders sentenced to more than three years. Yet a maths teacher, yes a stupid maths teacher, is sentenced to 6½ years for having consensual sex with a 15 year old, and a 16 year old. Anyone who thinks that is right has no moral compas. Something has gone very wrong with the so called justice system in this country. |

The only intelligent response is luck lads, but the overall level of fuckwittery in the UK judiciary is alarmingly high

I was luckier than a Officer I worked with for 5 years a lovely man , Google Nicholas Vernage, 51, killed Sgt Alan King in north east London in 1991. This silly randy woman will serve half her sentence inside and the rest back in the community |

The scar above left eye is fading but one of the vertebrae bones in my neck was crushed I feel that every time its cold and damp restricted movement I got a longer sentence My assailant who had numerous convictions was given 6 months , my sentence was for life yes some Judges make ridiculous sentences. I was luckier than a Officer I worked with for 5 years a lovely man , Google Nicholas Vernage, 51, killed Sgt Alan King in north east London in 1991. This silly randy woman will serve half her sentence inside and the rest back in the community Indeed she will serve half her sentence, which means although she is a non violent offender with a previously unblemished record, she will be incarcerated for longer than most violent gang members who in broad daylight rob people at knifepoint. Yay, lets hear it for British justice. |
