I think they were 90 seconds away from a new manager and the death of a tedious system of football. I am not sure that England winning was good for the game although they played better in extra time but almost too late. I think the English fans would have been seriously upset if they had gone out on their 90 minutes performance. They progress but football does not.

We need a new expression better than "By the skin of their teeth"!

I've just watched the highlights ... England could have lost ... with Slovakia being given one of the most gifted goal opportunities ever seen in a major competition ... the ball appeared to bounce away from the goal (it should have gone in .. maybe it hit a bump in the turf?). If it had have gone in the news would be showing it over and over again.
"England's shame"

England were shambolic. Got through purely on luck, not effort and not skill.
Georgia losing 4:1 to Spain played every minute, even when they were 3:1 down, with more passion, panache, and skill than England have manged all tournament. It would be easy to blame it all on Southgate, and he does carry some of the blame, but the players should be hanging their heads in shame. Harry Kane has been fucking useless all tournament, putting in less effort that almost anyone else - the team medic has covered more yards than Kane.
Southgate's portion of the blame is in keeping Kane in the starting line-up, bench the useless twat and put someone in who actually wants to play for their country, and not just their own ego.
All The Best

All The Best I do not think it is just Kane, there is not movement up front creating space pulling defenders away. Bellingham was in acres of space on several occasions and he was ignored by those pushing the ball about at the back to the tune of busy doing nothing yet the midfield is supposed to be the powerhouse and creative distribution centre of any team. In order to have midfield generals you have to give them the ball when they have the space to use it.

The difference between Spain and England tonight was light and day - I'm looking forward to the Spain Germany match, the England Switzerland match I will endure.

All The Best I think England's problem is structural (formation), tactics of which Southgate has very little nous and appears to hope on individual brilliance rather than an attacking team game plan. His dour safety first approach isn't a good fit for these players, where attack is their best form of defensive. He's risk averse and these are the performances we see as a result of a manager who is out of his depths.

Like Bentley said A win is a Win im not a fan of Bellingum but is Goal was class , True. But if that is the type of performance they are going to put in against the Swiss, then they'll be out. I'm hopeful that the Swiss come out against England and attack them. England are void of ideas when trying to break down low block teams.
