George Galloway - His party political broadcast began with what he obviously thinks is the most important issue of our time in this country - namely Gaza.
He's an opportunist, he plays to the British Muslim vote and forgets that for most people its the NHS, the economy, cost of living that matters to them.
The Royal Navy cannot do anything with regards to the boat problem, its an issue which is on the periphery of their scope of duty. If a vessel is on the French side of the International Waters, its a French problem, if the vessel crosses into the UK side, its our problem, and you cannot push boats back into someone elses international waters ... Its ilegal.
After watching special extended programming all this week on this issue on SKY News, its obvious now to me that the work to stop these gangs has to begin back at source, and I am convinced that Starmers pledge to involve MI5 in a new "Border Command" is the right direction to go.

Gaza is the most important issue for Galloway - it was what got him elected.

If a vessel is on the French side of the International Waters, its a French problem, if the vessel crosses into the UK side, its our problem, and you cannot push boats back into someone elses international waters ... Its ilegal. It's not illegal. The border in the sea is every bit as enforceable as land borders - it's just not being enforced because our politicians are feeble. But it's perfectly possible to enforce it. In the case of land borders anyone who flies into this country without the legal right (no visa or ID etc) is put on the next plane back to wherever they came from. That's possible because people who fly into this country are kept "airside" at the airport until they've passed immigration and customs. When they're airside they're not deemed to be in the UK. This principle is accepted worldwide. And we can do exactly the same thing with boats. If it's impractical/dangerous to turn them back they can be taken ashore to a similar area which is not deemed to be the UK and then returned whence they came if they don't have valid documentation. If we're waiting for a deal with France that will never happen. They hate these people more than we do.
