I’ve worked in a couple of places where the IT dept was overwhelmingly Indian (with a few Australians). It seems like the education system in both places got the idea that information technology was the future, long before the UK — a bit like Ireland and languages… PS: Polish plumbers and Eastern European tradespeople were an enormous benefit to ordinary folk who didn’t want to get shafted by the builder cowboys that abounded around London and the Home Counties… I occasionally phone my bank, I refuse to do online banking because I'm sensible, however. Very often it's a struggle to understand the person I'm speaking to because although they're speaking English they often have a very heavy Indian accent. I find myself constantly saying... pardon, can you say that again, what was that? On two occasions I have been forced to end the call and phone again in the hope I was lucky enough to get someone who could speak 'understandable' English. I have considered complaining about this, but I am very aware that banks are very woke, would I be considered a racist, put on a 'watchlist' of undesirable customers, or possibly de-banked? I don't know. Actually, reading back perhaps I've digressed slightly.

This is good news - my European retirement could be back on. So in otherwords "Im all right Jack" Maybe your leftie friends would like you to bring them tea towels back with the Flag of Germany on them, when you decide to grace our country with your presence..

If you were working class of course who saw your wages fall then you may have a different opinion. Never used a nanny, but anyone who employs someone unregistered or unqualified needs their head examined.
Builders are different. We've had a fair amount of conversion and refurb work to properties over the years and the two rip off teams we've had were local — despite good references and certification, turning up at 10:30am and leaving at 3:30pm and taking weeks over quoted time and doing shoddy work.
Since then we've had most build and carpentry work done by teams of predominantly eastern European personnel. Plumbing and electric work I reckon has been mostly done by eastern European and local people.
Luckily, our favourites have paid to remain, but they're in such demand they have to be booked way ahead of time...

Earned movement is better than free movement. Skills, and means to cope are life savers.
There's no reason why a citizen of an EU country shouldn't be able to migrate here if they have the skills and means to cope, but lets think about those who don't for a minute. It would be hugely irresponsible to return to the lethal lack of responsibility we had before.
There's already been deaths as a result of free movement when we were in the EU. And I blame the advocates of that flawed system.

Quality tradesmen are still free to move to the UK - the only thing that has changed is that you cannot import cheap labour to undercut UK workers. If you are willing to pay the going rate you have nothing to complain about.
