Here's something else to get the EUrophobes in a tizz...
Starting July 7, 2024, all new cars hitting the European market must come equipped with Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) systems, as mandated by a 2019/2044 regulation from the European Commission. Even existing unsold cars must be retrofitted with speed limiters before they can be sold. This requirement follows a prior legislation from the European Commission, which made it compulsory for all new vehicles sold in Europe to have speed limiters starting July 6, 2022.
Despite Brexit, the UK must also adhere to these safety regulations for new cars, as it has retained most EU laws concerning automobiles.

What's a "europhobe"? After all, the UK only voted to leave the EU, which isn't Europe and just some bureaucracy made up of dictators. In fact, the biggest EU supporter on this forum moved to the continent to become closer to the Reich and further from the mass-immigration that hit the UK.

Putting a limit of 112mph on my car would have no effect on me whatsoever. Recognising speed limit signs might be a challenge when they are hidden behind overgrown trees and shrubs. The thread is obviously an attempt to wind some people up.

A more useful idea would be fitting all new cars with a jamming device to prevent idiots using their mobile phones whilst driving.

That might be a solution to pollution reduced motoring...

How can it retain a new law?

Apart from a few stretches of motorway in low-populated areas where can you drive in excess of 70 mph in the UK anyway?
Much ado about nothing.

It's all one way, with more and more restrictions, and you wonder why nothing works in the UK.
In the 1930s you could build what you liked on land you owned as well. That was when the majority of the housebuilding took place and these terrible homes fetch high prices today and are considered good looking.
Mao said everyone should ride a bicycle.

There are 35 million passenger cars in the UK, so something has to give.

“ The system gives you warnings—haptic, audio, and visual—until you drive within the speed limit. You can override it temporarily by pressing hard on the accelerator, but it resets every time you start the car.” Problem solved .

If we are talking about reigning in speeding at high speeds no problem yet will this start to record people do 33mph in a 30 zone when the roads are quiet. I think the latter unless rules are brought in.

Yes but we have online shopping now and working from home. If the proles want to spend their days driving around on roads, it is their lookout. Perhaps send your kids to a local school rather than a half way across the country.
