Does every thread need to be turned into an argument about immigration? This thread was started to discuss a report about discrimination in the London Fire Brigade.

Or our media, politicians and vast swathes of society. If anyone thinks that UK society is so bad then I suggest they move to the Middle East and campaign about black/gay/women's rights and see how they get on. When you have to compare the UK to the Middle East to make a point you may not actually have one. Yes I wonder who it was that went off topic.

Are you claiming there is a conventional way of the “gay Saudi” getting here to claim asylum? What is it? Is there a conventional way a gay Saudi can claim asylum anywhere in the world?

It seems for the guy you have in mind there is a will. What is the way? Can't you read links?
He came over with his sister and never returned back, that was the way.
How do you think Sunak's parents got here from Africa in the 60s, how do you think millions of migrants/asylum seekers/ refugees or what ever you want to call them have settled here in the UK, are you really that stupid, or do you think all these millions have came across from France in a dinghy? HOw have all the millions of migrants/asylum seekers/refugees managed in the past to get to the UK?
The immigration of east African Asians into the UK in the 1960s was assisted by the government (in response to Africanisation issues). Immigration from Hong Kong, Afghanistan and (now) Ukraine, was also organised by the UK. Rishi Sunak's parents were probably forced out of Africa.
For these, the UK had (or established) facilities and local accessible procedures, schemes and even planes. It also gave ready access to immigration applications offices in many of its colonies...

Just a reminder because people seem to keep forgetting - the primary objective of asylum is not to get people into the UK. just because a person isn't in the UK, doesn't mean something has gone wrong and reform needs to be undertaken until they are.

Well, if your home ever catches fire, are you going to stop the firemen from saving your home by asking them if they're racist first ?
This is life.
In any walk of life you find good people and bad people.

Don't they deserve our support if they're being mistreated?

When someone goes to work, on the whole would it not be better if they didn’t have their breasts fondled if they happen to be a woman, have pork slipped into their sandwiches if they happen to be of muslim faith and not be driven to suicide if they happen to be black? Not hard surely? Your problem Dappy is you have no sense of humour, lol.

In reality I doubt any one gives a toss what colour creed, sex or if they are LGBTQ, when your fuckin house is burning down it's not on the forefront of anyone's mind.
It's another none story that is brought up just to keep the snowflakes happy.

Bees are beautiful had two bees nests this year, lovely I could sit there all day watching them go in and out of their nests. ... ahhh the joys of nature.

Always nice to agree for once. Had Wasps nest in garden last summer - amazing to watch them come and go so quickly and such volume without once crashing into each other. Nature is indeed wonderful. Lets hope humans don't fuck it up.
Not sure this is fully on topic though!
