Having cast off the yoke of the unelected dictatorship Brits now have the unalienable sovereign right to poison themselves and their children to the extent they wish. Another triumph for Brexit. Incidentally exotically-flavoured potato crisps are vanishingly rare on the continent, in fact crisps in general are not a major 'food group' like they are in the UK. Why, has the EU banned smoking and alcohol as well? Silly sod. No, but we in the UK have instigated a smoking ban, I'm sure the Islamists will be working on an alcohol ban for us.

Most western countries have turned smoking into an anti-social activity, but as far as alcohol is concerned the UK has a particular problem with binge-drinking in public, something which rarely occurs elsewhere as far as I'm aware, even in countries with higher per-capita consumption levels such as Germany, France and Spain.

Strict new limits eh? How strict? And why isn't Denmark in that graphic? It's very selective, almost like it's geared up to make us look bad.

Only in the sense that the OP was intended to make you feel (or look) good.
Ooh - look what's going on over there. Glad it's not us.
As for Denmark, you'll need to ask Wikipedia. I do know, however, that the UK is the only country outside the US and possibly Canada that consumes so much junk. You've only got to do a bit of travelling around to see that for yourself.

Alcohol really fucks you up long-term according to some experts I've been listening to. I can't recall all the things it does, which are pretty complicated, but the overall view was it does affect overall health long-term. I think this is partly due to it interfering with the body's ability to digest and successfully extract and use all the nutrients it consumes, as per system-wide anomalies. I think liver damage is pretty well known about, but even if one does not get medical malfunction of the liver, it is still causing trouble. If all what I heard stands up to science then one can imagine if the EU wants to be totally logical about it then it will have to ban it. I mean by logical that if they ban something of a lesser harm then they would ban anything of greater harm.

Alcohol in moderation is an integral part of the culture of Europe and has been for millenia. Smoky bacon crisps and other junk food are not.
The highest incidences of alcohol abuse occur in eastern Europe and correlate with the consumption of distilled spirits. Countries which consume mostly beer or wine have only low to moderate moderate levels of alcohol-related disease.
The UK's alcohol problem is not endemic alcoholism but booze-fuelled anti-social behaviour. It's a social issue not a medical one.

LOLS, when I saw the thread title I didn't believe it, when I clicked on the link I burst out laughing. Claims the much-loved flavour faced the axe were branded a pro-Brexit “myth” during the campaign which ended with Britain leaving the bloc in 2016. But the UK will soon be the only part of Europe where the crisp flavour is sold after remainers were caught telling porkies. An EU ban on smoky-bacon flavour crisps will soon become reality after member states quietly gave the go-ahead for the prohibition late in April. The move came despite pro-EU publications repeatedly claiming that Brussels’ attempts to ban certain flavours of crisps were false and part of a smear campaign. www.thesun.co.uk/money/28240421/smoky-bacon-crisp-ban-eu-bureaucrats/Next week when we go shopping I will make a point of buying some smokey bacon crisps. No doubt with cash and not paid for by card — but seriously, are you happy to consume harmful artificial additives just because a body you disapprove of points out the dangers...?
Wonder if the mossies eat em?

You only got to a bit of travelling around Europe and you'll be able to see for yourself. Visit continental supermarkets, food shops, restaurants and note the comparative absence of packaged junk food, fast food joints and ethnic take-outs peddling cheap swill containing God knows what.
You won't see any of this banging on a keyboard in granny's basement.

Sorry to disappoint but I don't have the time to go gallivanting around the European Union. I'm too busy working and my weekends are very busy too.
At any rate my diet is better than frogs legs & snails.

To provide a little context, the nearest large town is about 25km, an ancient cathedral city popular with tourists. It has a resident population of around 50,000 who have the choice of dozens of bars, cafes and restaurants including a couple of Michelin-starred. Few if any are franchises or part of chains. There are two Macdonalds, a Burger King, one Indian and one Chinese.
Compare with a similar British town, Salisbury say. It also has two Macdonalds but there are also at least 10 Indian and 10 Chinese - Trip Advisor lists the best ten of each so there must be others too. Restaurant chains are well-represented - Wagamama, Nandos and Harvester etc.
It's a different world, one you'll never experience driving a keyboard all day, one which your prejudices have excluded you from.

I've seen enough McDonalds in France the times I've been. But my idea of a nice holiday is different to yours.
Your idea is a "lovely white" European place.
My idea of a nice holiday is mountains, lakes, rivers, nice places to look at, places to walk, to fish, to hunt. I've been to France enough times before. I'm more interested in touring the Commonwealth, when I get the time.

Wonder if the mossies eat em? LOL I think smoky bacon might be haram, Jonksy. Just guessing, mind. Well that is the funny thing. When I lived in a Muslim country the Smokey Bacon crisps were put in the Pork Section of the Supermarket - of course there is no pork or any other meat in them. They are actually vegetarian...
