Why are carparks telling a different story?
Doesn't matter where you go, Supermarkets, retail parks, theme parks, pubs, restaurants, hotels you name it the carparks are RAM PACKED, not just weekends weekdays too, does any one work these days?
Sorry if there was a cost of living crisis these carparks would be empty.

Visit any UK airport and it will be heaving, but one thing I will say, a year or two under a Labour government and those same carparks will be empty, along with tumbleweed blowing down the motorways.

Its Torbay airshow here next week and parking is 25 quid a day while that is on. And a hotel meal for 10 is a grand. Fish and chips are 30 quid a hit and a hired torbay deck chair will cost 25 quid a day...

I can guarantee it will be packed to the rafters, money appears to be no object, that's why I'm scratching my head wondering where all these 'poor people' are?

And just to take the piss mate the torbay multi story story carpark on paignton sea front is now a pile of rubble. It was only built 18 years ago..FFS.I was just reading the itinerary they are going to have a static spitfire on paignton green. The cost to get up close and personal with it is 30 quid. No phones are allowed when people do venture close. But a so called professional photo will cost a sum of 75 quid...

Very true, whenever we drive into town the car parks are always full even though they cost a fortune. If Mrs R wants to go shopping, as in a mince around the shops rather than grocery shopping, I will usually suggest the begining of the week in the belief it will be quieter, but even on a Monday or Tuesday it's still busy.

I'm surprised the greedy housing developers didn't get their grubby hands on it, with their new apartments starting from £550,000, prime land that, any piece of land in Torbay is a money maker.

Its fucking extortionate Red. No wonder our town and city centers are dying on their feet. Torquay shopping center is now no more than a junkies paradise for drug dealers and our uninvited guests.

Yes, we have similar. In Stafford the guildhall shopping centre is full of shops, sadly most of them are closed, as in ceased trading. There are other shopping centres in Stafford but unfortunately the Guildhall which used to be Mrs R's fave seems to be suffering more than the others.

So which is it? Is everywhere rammed, or are the town centres dying? I'm getting mixed messages from this thread.

So which is it? Is everywhere rammed, or are the town centres dying? I'm getting mixed messages from this thread. The retail parks have basically killed off the high street, and the greedy Labour run Councils with their excessive parking charges, most retail parks don't charge for parking, tell you what andrea, I'll have a bet with you, visit two random retail parks today, and I will guarantee you wont get a parking space, because 'there's no money around' .... LOL

So which is it? Is everywhere rammed, or are the town centres dying? I'm getting mixed messages from this thread. I suppose it depends where you go. In my experience of town centres, Stafford anyway, it's a mixed bag. The Guildhall shopping centre which always used to be busy has died over the past few years, and there are several closed shops on Greengate street which is the main pedestrianised shopping street that runs through the centre of town. On the other hand the Riverside shopping centre is always busy. Make of that what you will.
