This is an interesting observation I thought: "At the moment this election feels like 2019 in reverse, as Starmer’s Labour has a very simple slogan - “Change” - and policies we’ve known about for months or longer, whereas Sunak’s Tories seem to be offering something new each day on a platform of “clear plan, bold action, secure future”. I am not arguing Starmer is Johnson and Sunak is Corbyn! But in 2019 the Tories had approximately one and a half policies - getting Brexit “done” and something about “levelling up” - whereas Labour had an Argos catalogue of offers. We know the result. Less can be more in politics. So the test of Sunak’s many “bold actions” is whether they end up forming a coherent whole or feel a bit too random" x.com/Peston/status/1795531105312874502?t=WTPMIrmvFS06xeIcteskhw&s=19It's true in 2019 the Tories had excellent message discipline, from memory it seemed like Boris Johnson went through entire interviews saying nothing but"Get Brexit done" and it worked. As someone points out in the replies, the Tories have the same problem any long term incumbent has when it comes to proposing new policies people immediately ask if it's such a great idea why haven't they done it already? Get Brexit done finished in 2019, and the levelling up has failed massively. But instead of trying to relaunch it, Sunak wants to raid the pot for national service. You can't actually make this shit up. Raid the pot? There isn't one and Labour know that. Until we get people working in jobs that actually make something we can sell abroad, we're going to be poorer and poorer.

Imo both parties know this and they also know that they have no idea how to make that happen . So they are left with a managed decline over the next few generations. Hence the bullshit from Sunak about a quasi National service . What we need is a vocational training scheme and adult learning programme across the country . The Tories could have started that from the day they gained office.

The errors reflect the lost look on Sunak's face. Are you suggesting the Tories played no part in the coalition? No, my friend, just stating a bare fact. I don't think you are, I think you are avoiding the Fact that the Lib Dems had very little input into coalition decisions.

I'm referring specifically to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, aka Levelling Up Fund.

Starmer will then have to admit that the house of ill repute has been pulling the wool over the eyes of the British public for decades which he has also voted for, so I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.

What I've just listened to is incredible. Aaron Bastani, co founder of left wing Novara Media and very vocal Labour supporter, has just said on live TV that Starmer is a mendacious liar. He said Starmer is a bigger liar than Blair or Johnson. And this guy is a lifelong Labour supporter!
He is currently speaking on GB News, Freeview 236 or YouTube.
Labour supporting Aron Bastani has just doubled down, he said Starmer is a compulsive liar.

I wonder, has there ever been a general election in which both leaders we so bloody rubbish?
