Obviously Sunak knows inflation is going to rise again and the economy is going to get worse, otherwise he wouldn't have called an election.

I'll make a prediction. It will be the dirtiest campaigns we have ever seen. Hopefully, but probably not.
We will get the usual nonsense about each side screaming that the other chap smells of poo and the media having fits of the vapours and all the politicos trying to stir up apathy, but I can't see a lot happening.

Obviously Sunak knows inflation is going to rise again and the economy is going to get worse, otherwise he wouldn't have called an election. I'm not sure inflation ios going back up any time soon. The key event that made Sunak go for an election is this morning Borrowing figures - Deficit Balloons to £20.5BN – Up £1.2BN in Just Two Months Public borrowing in the tax year ending in March has also been revised higher by £0.8bn to £121.4bn, outpacing forecasts by the govt’s spending watchdog by £7.3bn. So absolutely no chance for Tax cuts if he held on until the Autumn.

Might as well get it out of the way as the result is in no doubt. There is no good news coming and the debt is starting to soar so the Tories may as well go now and leave Labour to carry the can. Nonsense, it's all to play for and I'll tell you something, behind the scenes Starmer will be a damned sight more worried than Sunak that's for sure. The gap between the parties always closes once the election is announced, and according to pollsters there are already signs of this happening. The biggest threat to the Tories are Reform UK, not Labour.

Obviously Sunak knows inflation is going to rise again and the economy is going to get worse, otherwise he wouldn't have called an election. I disagree. The signs for the economy are good, what may have prompted Sunak to call the election is the fact that illegal boat crossings from the poxy EU will obviously increase throughout the summer. Not a good look for an autumn election.

One of the reasons Sunak may have called it now, apart from the boats increasing over the summer months, is because of fears over Reform UK gaining in popularity during the summer. At the moment Reform UK are not very organised on the ground and have no big financial backers which is unlikely to change over the next few weeks.
Also, Sunak knows Gaza is a big issue for Labour. In normal circumstances 70% of Muslims vote Labour, but right now thanks to events in Gaza that may not be the case and the situation is unlikely to improve between now and July 4th.
The more you look at Sunak calling it now, the more it makes sense.

Does Sunak believe that this very unusual date for an election favours the Tories? Like a lot of Labour-voters on holiday and out of the country?

Sunak probably also counts on a lame election-campaign as the election date coincides with Euro 2024 and people rather watch the matches than boring election-debates.
