Norway, Qatar and America because the clowns in Westminster refuse to use our own gas. Perhaps they are saving it for a rainy day?. Either that of the government is selling it for a profit in the global markets while supply is low. Or the gas has run out, as announced some years ago. North Sea gas is almost depleted. How long will UK gas reserves last? The United Kingdom has proven reserves equivalent to 2.6 times its annual consumption. This means it has about 3 years of gas left (at current consumption levels and excluding unproven reserves). www.worldometers.info › gas United Kingdom Natural Gas - Worldometer The government recently licenced more exploration that's likely to yield worthwhile quantities

It's as though someone doesn't want us to be self sufficient in energy production.

Quite possibly, even likely the oil cartel who want to maintain the current high prices and all with government knowledge.

We have our own fuel, we don't need Putin's gas. Oh so THAT is why energy bills are multiplying like Mayflies and businesses are going out of business. Consider the millions of gas boilers across the nation. Where do you think that comes from? Energy bills are so high because we stupidly adopted an EU policy of closing down our fossil fuel powered power stations before we'd got like for like capacity in the grid. The companies which supply gas also supply electricity, and are struggling. Blame the EU and Amber Rudd, the adopter of their policies.

You mention one of many stupid decisions which have screwed us up on energy. We screwed up nuclear power way back in the beginning because the government was running it. This is why we aught to have a small government and a competitive market.

So you think the EU has a policy that demanded that the UK relies on French nuclear power. I am not aware that France supplies gas to the UK. Or that the nuclear power electricity supply is "struggling". Nor that on and off shore wind generation provides gas, or that said generation is the result of an EU directive, although it could be said to be a sovereign response to an EU policy to reduce fossil fuel usage, also supported by over100 countries at multiple COP meetings. You don't half talk rubbish.
