Currently taxpayers are shelling out £292 million in disability payments to people claiming ADHD, while back in 2013 , when the scheme started , it was only costing £700K, a staggering rise of 400%. The payments are part of £5.1 billion of public money given out last year in Personal Independence Payments (PIP) for mental health issues, compared with £34.4million in 2013. Anyone who honestly believes that mental health disability has genuinely risen 400% in the last 10 years is probably in receipt of PIP themselves. Well considering its only in recent years ADHD has been recognised I don't find it that surprising that so many more have been diagnosed in the last 10 years. When I was at school they recognised ADHD and punished you for it. Though back then it was called naughty or not paying attention.

What has been achieved by creating a category that puts previously considered fit and healthy people in the 'disabled' category?

Loads jumped on the COVID bandwagon, now they can continue to use it as a excuse not to work, don't get me wrong I know COVID did effect lots of people badly, but now it's hard to detect the genuine from the bogus.

But it does look good for the usual Tory claims of "stop the scroungers" and of course your average Daily Mail reader. Its Froth, a sidetrack, a gimmick, aimed at the Hang em and Flog em Brigade, yes lets punish the scroungers. The Tories have nothing else to say, nothing to offer, only the usual caustic rhetoric Why do you zero in on Daily Mail readers? Serious question btw... Because in 2010 the Daily Mail tried to convince voters that the country's economic problems were because of the unemployed. In 2024 they're trying to convince voters it's the fault of the disabled. You can see from the comments on this thread that some people actually believe that. Meanwhile the government and their cronies helped themselves to money, and the same people turned a blind eye...

Yes there are many many people affected by long Covid. They are all salaried people, NHS and in government jobs where they get paid whether they attend or not. Long covid has managed to avoid tradesmen, like plumbers, carpenters, even lorry drivers. Amazing disease isn't it?

If you fail to acknowledge an illness its very likely there will be thousands of undiagnosed cases walking around suffering silently.

Who do you Consider genuinely disabled red? As at August last year 22.6 million people were claiming £132 billion a year in out of work benefits of some description. That's £11 billion a month. It's ridiculous and it's not sustainable. One way of reducing the benefits bill would be to treat illegals in this country the same as they're treated in the EU. Labour rely on them for votes. It's why they pretend to care while using other peoples money.

The Tories have nothing else to say, nothing to offer, only the usual caustic rhetoric Why do you zero in on Daily Mail readers? Serious question btw... The Daily Mail - where to begin Of all the newspapers with a political bias, it is the Daily Mail which stands out above all others, Left or Right, for printing half truths, misleading so called news, missing out facts vital to an overal picture, omitting information central to a story and simply making things up. Their never ending campaign of hate against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is a good example, in this weekends editions you will find the headline ... "How Harry and Meghan were welcomed to Nigeria by a fugitive airline boss wanted in the US over $20M money laundering operation". After explaining to readers what a bad man Mr Onyema is, and how he is wanted in the US for suspected money laundering, and well into the long read, the "news" paper then admits that "there is no suggestion that Harry and Meghan knew of Mr Onyema s past. So what was the point of printing the story ? ... a nonsense story ... a story about nothing ... an insinuation, and yet another Daily Mail article putting the couple in a bad light, I call it vindictive.

The poor little Hamas boys are always having a nervous breakdown over the Daily Mail. He's also anti-GB News and wants it banned. Still, I'm sure most of the Islamists and terrorist loving far-left are on the scrounge. What was it Anjem (Andy) Choudary said? Oh right "you work and give us money".
