Nobody escapes stealth tax, just a fact. And none of the number juggling changes the fact that the taxes collected don't cover the ever growing services we want. Anyone NOT want the latest cancer treatments, No? How about dementia research, No? Proton beam treatment, No? Perhaps if we cancel a rainbow crossing it will pay for them.

All I mentioned is an inescapable fact, that it doesn't matter whatever income bracket you might put yourself in, you cannot escape stealth tax.

Personally, I cant see a Labour win having any redeeming features. Prime minister Starmer is a frightening prospect. So is his shadow cabinet. Only in the minds of the fixed and over opinionated that follow Tory propaganda.

Would you feel your life was threatened if I knocked on your door with a Green Party leaflet? 🤔 Nope lefty woke snowflakes like you are easy to deal with. Dense people who allow right-wing papers like the Mail and Express to do their thinking for them are very easily dealt with, as those looking on clearly see.

Most medical research is privately funded (or helped by charities from donations)

Entire tax and benefit system For clarity you are saying no one earning less than 50k pays in more money than they get out including Income tax VAT etc?I'm guessing this must be some sort of bizarre misuse of averages, considering all tax collected is spent on the public. But how you know someone earning £30k a year always gets more out and someone earning £51k a year never get more out. Is beyond me. I earn significantly less than £50k, I receive not one single penny in Benefits. All The Best

All The Best No, but you did get an education and healthcare, policing and roads etc etc. Pacifico's point is that on average if you earn less than 50k a year then you receive more from the state than you pay in. Of course its bollox some people who earn well over 50k a year will get huge amounts of health care far in excess of what they paid in, and some people earning less than 40k will hardly need help at all. The idea is a safety net.

The idea is a safety net. You achieve nothing by taking extreme examples - you have to look at the average. It was not my intention to not consider the average. I was pointing out the absurdity of claiming everyone who is earning under 50k a year is doing nicely out of the tax system. If you earn well in this country it is in no small part because you live in this country and benefit from its governance.
