Especially when you consider that amongst MANY Labour Party supporters ( particularly those of the hard Left ), enemy Number 1 within the BBC is no other than Laura Kuenssberg.
She is widely considered to be a Tory, Right Wing, Biased, Anti Labour
There is a valid counter-argument as to why the BBC does not describe organisations how any government says they should describe them, and its called impartiality.
The BBC (radio) has more listners in India than it does here in the UK, and probably as many listners to BBC News in places such as Nigeria and Kenya as it does in the UK.
The BBC has the same policy whether broadcasting in India, the United States, Nigeria or Kenya, and Assamese Separatist groups are refered to as "Assamese Separatist Groups", but some of those groups are Proscribed by the government of India.
I personaly believe Hamas IS a terrorist organisation, but I do not accept that the BBC must call any organisation "terrorists" because the government says that they have to, its a line that the government must not cross, there must be no interference in the BBC s editorial independence. You have to understand that the BBC is NOT the official voice of the British government, it is the voice of Britain, Britain the state, its people and culture.

Why would they call groups and political parties far-right, or anti-immigrant or populist when subjected to pressure by the journalistic unions or sometimes just as a loose comment if they are so concerned with editorial impartiality as their guiding principle. It seems that 'impartiality' has partial boundaries and that is a concern. |
