But it never was was it. Because government after government of all ilks did what the electorate asked it to do: "just fix our current problems now, someone else can worry about the consequences". I disagree. They told the electorate their plans and then largely only did what they thought best, I assume, but then there is room for conspiracy in there. There was no need, and no excuse, for uncontrolled migration. If we were short of Labour or skills then like other countries temporary work permits were perfectly able to be organised. Somewhere there was not an incapability of controlling immigration there always seems to have been a desire to have immigration higher than the public knew as even Crossman admitted when he said the figures could be manipulated to paint the picture that was not the true reflection of the actuality. This was at the time when some in the Home Office were providing Powell with accurate figures and he did not like that.

So do you not have anything relevant to the last 50 years? You know the years when immigration actually was significant in numbers. Crossman's been out of office since 1970 not that I (or seemingly Google either) recognise you comment about him.
