Surly before you condem all pet owners you should own one yourself...Many pets are very therapeutic for some people who are not as lucky as us? And how about service dogs and those who lead the blind? Service dogs and pets have broadened the horizon for a great many people who are different from the norm and who have to adjust their daily needs accordingly.. I'm not surly in my views. We had dogs when I was growing up and they were kept and treated well. And I'm all for guide dogs, assistance dogs — they and their owners/users are trained.
Cats, on the other hand can't be trained. So, if they're wanted as comfort/therapeutic pets, it's my view they should be chipped, neutered, and kept inside overnight as that is when they do the most damage to birds, insects, and animals...
Many pets are the only companions they have in lives for those who live alone.

Many pets are the only companions they have in lives for those who live alone. There are already laws that spell out the animals we are allowed to have and how we must control and look after them.
So making it a requirement that all cats are chipped and neutered and kept in overnight shouldn't be a hardship — wouldn't keeping their pet with them at night enhance the companionship factor...?

Because cats don’t get into your house through , drains, next door, your roof , holes in walls as wide as pencils etc and shit and piss over your house . They don’t chew through cables either . Rats can be legally dealt with poison and traps. Cats can't.
Some cat owners let their pet "shit and piss" indoors. And cats are sources of ailments like: •Cat scratch disease (CSD) — caused by a bacterium called Bartonella henselae, which may be carried in the saliva of infected cats and in the bodies of cat fleas; •Pasteurella multocida — a bacterium found in the mouths of over 70 percent of cats, and it has been found inup to and 80 percent of cat bites in humans and serious enough to seek medical attention; •Salmonella poisoning — salmonellosis, caused by a group of bacteria called Salmonella, and can lead to diarrhea, fever, and stomach pain beginning one to three days after infection. Usually contracted from contaminated food, though can also be contracted from infected cats; •Fleas — the most common external parasite of cats, and can cause itching and inflammation in humans and cats alike, and may also serve as vectors for CSD and other zoonotic diseases. Flea-infested cats may become infected with tapeworms, people can also become infected with tapeworms from these fleas; •Scabies — Sarcoptes scabiei, is a zoonotic external parasite of the skin of cats, that can be passed from infected cats to people, where they burrow into the skin and cause itchy, raised lesions; •Feline intestinal parasites — Including roundworms (Toxocara) and hookworms (Ancylostoma), these parasites can also cause disease in people. Children are particularly at risk due to their higher likelihood of contact with soil that has been contaminated by cat feces; •Fungal Infections — Ringworm (or dermatophytosis). Infected cats continuously drop fungal spores from their skin and fur. Spores remain capable of causing infection for many months and are difficult to eradicate from a household. Children are particularly at risk of infection...
Some people shit and piss indoors too. Let’s ban people ? If Cats are cared for properly and given the appropriate spot ons and jabs , none of the above is a problem . You must be the only person the world who thinks cats kill mice and rats illegally.😁

Birds roost at night . Only weak and young birds are taken by cats . I see many dead birds killed by cars . Shall we ban cars ? Birds kill huge amounts of insects . We need more cats to kill the birds and save the insects.

You must be the only person the world who thinks cats kill mice and rats illegally.😁 The vast majority of people have access to and use hygenic indoor toilet facilities. Cats defecating indoors have open trays of cat litter granules.
Have I claimed cats cats kill mice and rats illegally? I've pointed out there are other methods of dealing with rats and mice that don't endanger other more desirable insects, birds and other creatures...

So let’s just kill the people who don’t pull the chain . Most outdoor cats crap outside . You “ Rats can be legally dealt with poison and traps. Cats can't.“ Cats kill rats and mice quite legally . Of course you could have been making a non point . I gave you the benefit of the doubt.

Can't recall a cat ever carrying a bladed instrument or gun stabbing, shooting or killing people in the street , they don't flytip their cannabis grow or dangerously hoard in houses. Plenty of food establishments have caused salonella and other food poisonings , kids are often exposed to ringworm at school and a frequent complaint of nursery/reception teachers is that nappy wearing kids are attending school without being toilet trained by their lazy parents Any of your anti cat rant is easily dealt with

Feral cats play a big role in pest control for snowflakes who have a touch of the vapours at the sight of a mouse

Nope you alluded to the legality of cats killing rats or mice . The alternative is you posted a non point . This seems to be a way for you to admit posting a non point . Keeping a cat to kill rats and mice is a great trade off. You get a nice pet that kills rats and mice .

We love cats and have had one or two for most of our married lives. We have not had any since 2019 when we had to have both cats put to sleep. We are both allergic, so decided not to have another cat.
So it is now doubly annoying to find cat faeces in the garden. Cats on the street with no owner should be trapped by a local authority cat catcher. Owners should have to pay a fine to retrieve their chipped cat. Unchipped cats can be rehomed on the stipulation they must be kept indoors or on a lead.
