Revealed: Tory peer Michelle Mone secretly received £29m from ‘VIP lane’ PPE firm The Conservative peer Michelle Mone and her children secretly received £29m originating from the profits of a PPE business that was awarded large government contracts after she recommended it to ministers, documents seen by the Guardian indicate. Lady Mone’s support helped the company, PPE Medpro, secure a place in a “VIP lane” the government used during the coronavirus pandemic to prioritise companies that had political connections. It then secured contracts worth more than £200m. Documents seen by the Guardian indicate tens of millions of pounds of PPE Medpro’s profits were later transferred to a secret offshore trust of which Mone and her adult children were the beneficiaries. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/nov/23/revealed-tory-peer-michelle-mone-secretly-received-29m-from-vip-lane-ppe-firm

So what is the story?
She isn't an MP, she isn't in government, so unless they can prove she bribed somebody then this story is going nowhere.
Are they trying to say a millionaire businesswoman taking the opportunity to earn more millions, is corruption?
Let's face it, anybody with a business brain would have seen COVID as a business opportunity to be milked... from this level right down to the puppy breeders that added zeros to their prices.

No Dave, sorry. If this is true,it is outrageous behaviour that puts Owen Patterson to shame.
Mone takes the Tory whip in the House of Lords. If the story is true which used the influence that gave her for very significant personal gain.
You can't defend that behaviour (if it happened) due to party loyalty.
If true she should at the very least by stripped of the whip and thrown out of the House of Lords. Actually I would have thought it constituted a criminal act.
Regardless of party loyalty, lets all hope this is properly investigated and appropriate action (if any) taken once the true facts are estaablished

I have to say, that seems unlikely. In September 2020 Lady Mone's partner Douglas Barrowman was paid at least £65million from the NHS PPE deal into an Isle of Man trust. The following month £28.8 million was transferred from that account to another entity called the Keristal Trust, which was set up by Mr Barrowman the beneficiaries being Lady Mone and her children. I'm no forensic accountant, but it seems pretty clear to me what's gone on. However, strictly speaking has she broken the law? I'm sure she and her partner have some pretty fancy lawyers working on that one.

I've never voted Tory in my life lol. I'm just bored with all these "corruption" stories that never actually go anywhere because they are putting two and two together and suggesting five. We have very strict laws on corruption in this country, yet we are to believe that the Tories are somehow getting away with it. Do me a favour. Again, she isn't an MP, she isn't in government, she is a peer because she is a successful businesswoman. Again, thousands of people milked COVID so I really can't get excited about this. I'll get excited when one of them is arrested and charged.

More this morning.......... Michael Gove is facing mounting pressure to fully explain his role in the government’s award of large PPE contracts to a company that was first recommended to him by the Tory peer Michelle Mone. Asked in an interview on Thursday how he had responded to Lady Mone’s approach in May 2020, Gove said he had referred all offers of PPE to “the appropriate civil service channels”. That explanation appears to be at odds with a chain of emails previously released under the Freedom of Information Act that shed light on how the company, PPE Medpro, was added to a “VIP” lane that prioritised politically connected firms. The emails suggest that after initially being contacted by Mone, Gove suggested she contact another then minister, the Tory peer Theodore Agnew. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/nov/24/michael-gove-under-pressure-explain-role-ppe-deals-michelle-mone

Makes you wonder whether the journalist(s) found any others who may have been involved and how much Tory funds may have been improved.

Dappy actually made one point that I actually agree with " If it is true" the National Crime Agency as stated in the Guardian has executed search warrants seized documents, and as far as I am aware that investigation is still on going.
These are allegations at this moment in time, again as far as I am aware nobody has been charged with anything so far,
If it is true and accurate, then quite rightly all and anyone involved should the evidence support the allegations and is strong enough charges should be brought and those suspected of Fraud or any other offence should be tried by the due process of Law, not the media and speculation

If there was any serious involvement by Tories, then a prosecution may not see the light of day.

During the recent flu outbreak, Boris Johnson said that he was not bothered about paying over the odds provided the UK got the drugs and equipment required. Presumably that included greasing a few palms. The public broadly agreed with the Blond Moppet, feeling that it was better to be poor than dead.
Now however, the UK is in the midst of one of its periodic fits of morality.
