Susan Hall vies for upset against Sadiq Khan in London Mayoral election. The battle for the capital between Sadiq Khan and Susan Hall could well be tighter than pundits initially predicted, with the outcome to be revealed this afternoon. Mr Khan’s expansion of the controversial ultra-low emissions zone (Ulez) has been a hot topic during the campaign that may have damaged support for the incumbent mayor’s chances of holding office. www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/05/04/local-election-results-live-mayor-2024-khan-susan-hall/Results expected around 2pm today (Sat 4 May) Live coverage on GB News Freeview 236. It seems the vote in inner London is lower than expected, this is where the bulk of Khans supporters live. The vote in greater London is reportedly higher than expected, this s where Khans opponents live. Khan was predicted to win comfortably, but as we get closer to the finish line commentators are predicting a much closer contest. Fingers crossed for Susan Hall.

Come this afternoon, Sadiq Khan will be the Mayor of London with a much reduced majority because of (1) people who do not like measures to improve air quality and reduce polution and (2) people who do not agree with the Labour position on Gaza.

Or, more accurately, people who can see that this has nothing to do with air quality in the outer suburbs and everything to do with Khans mismanagement of TFLs finances.

It has nothing to do with air quality, but it has reduced polution and has improved air quality REPORT FROM LAST NOVEMBER ...... The introduction of London's first clean air zone 15 years ago has significantly improved air quality, according to new analysis. University of Bath academics have examined the launch of the 2008 low emission zone (Lez) for lorries and the 2019 ultra low emission zone (Ulez). They found the schemes have had health and economic benefits for the city. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The scheme has nothing to do with air quality, but health experts in other big citys are pushing to follow London's lead. THE GUARDIAN 7th APRIL ..... More than 100 doctors and environmentalists in Brussels have called on their politicians to follow London and Paris and take measures to improve the choking air pollution in the Belgian capital.

Ulez has little to do with air quality, anyone with an IQ in double figures knows it a money making scheme. But I agree, the likelihood is that Khan will win, sadly.

Do learn to read: I said in the outer suburbs, Witchy. Even Khan's own study (which he tried to bury) shows minimal difference in the outer suburbs. Yes it's made a difference in central London but then 15 years ago central London was chock full of old-school diesel buses, taxis and trucks. The issue was never private cars.

Results from 2 of the London counts would appear to show no drop in support for Sadiq Khan, indeed quite the opposite.
Bad losers always seem to resort to conspiracy theories on these boards ... the facts are wrong, the statistics are wrong, the official figures have been fiddled, manipulated, altered or interfered with.

As yet there are no losers, bad or otherwise.
