Murder is premeditated.
This was self defence in response to a home invasion by burglars.
Outbuildings are part of his home too.
They had no right to be there.
The responsibility for the death of the 19 year old thug, is the 19 year old thug who chose to go on the rob instead of earning cash.

Of course he was threatened, there were burglars on his property and they were armed. After all, they used tools to break in. Tools are weapons. A crowbar can kill. A hammer can kill. A screwdriver can kill.
The farmer acted in self defence.
You would have done the same in his shoes.

Every burglar is armed. People have been killed by single punches. Best way to deal with burglars is to not get killed by them. That thug got what he deserved.
