One dead, one injured.
Farmer arrested on suspicion of murder.
One burglar arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Occupational risk.
Shouldn't have tried robbing a farm.

Oh dear, what a shame, never mind. I hope the farmer gets released quickly. Lets hope so but we all know how this is going to go . BBC already reporting that the dead bloke was well liked ,a member of the local football team and DJ at the local pub . Villagers said to be shocked that he was involved . All they really needed to say was that he was a scumbag that got what was coming to him . Not one mention of the farmer

On the one hand I suppose it's shame that someone died, but then again, he was attempting to rob a farmer and rural crime is off the scale. I hope the police and courts dont turn this case into another Tony Martin. Thieves should know that farmers will shoot.

Tony Martin had a pump action shotgun without a licence.
I hope this farmer has a shotgun or firearms certificate.

I farmer against 3 potentially violent criminals. It’s unlikely that a copper would turn up soon . What did they think the farmer should do ?

Now we can see why he was shot. I expect he had some sort of weapon and was going for an old man, i.e. self defence.

It is illegal to keep anything in your home specifically for the purpose of using it to defend yourself against intruders. If a mugger approaches you in the street and says: "Give me your wallet or I'll punch you in the face!" you are not supposed to "Take the law into your own hands" by using preemptive violence ... you are supposed to hand over your wallet and report the incident to the police.

Zimbabwean asylum seeker, 34, who was jailed for possession of a hammer after racking up more than 60 convictions for drugs, robbery and assault is granted leave to remain in the UK.... A Zimbabwean asylum seeker who was jailed for possession of a hammer and racked up more than 60 convictions for drugs, robbery and assault has been granted leave to stay in the UK.
Zimbabwean Ashley Simbarashe Maparura has amassed a 'dreadful catalogue' of 68 convictions across several counties, a court heard. The 34-year-old thug arrived in the UK around 2017 and quickly became involved in serious crimes including drugs, robbery and assault. But in spite of his appalling criminal record, he was granted leave to remain in the country two months ago. This week, he appeared at Northampton Crown Court where he was jailed for possession of a weapon. CCTV operators spotted two men behind a row of shops in Gainsborough Road, Corby, Northants., at 1.50am on February 16. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13380415/Zimbabwean-asylum-seeker-jailed-hammer-60-convictions-remain-UK.html

Bollox. If you react violently to someone who is attempting to rob you in the street it is not preemptive action. It's self defence.
