Labour has said every migrant crossing the channel in small boats will qualify for asylum, scrapping or ignoring the Illegal Migration Act which came into force in July last year. Labour has confirmed that if they win the election all those currently waiting to be removed from the UK having had their asylum claims declared inadmissible (currently 90,000, expected to rise to more than 115,000 by the end of the year) would automatically qualify to apply for asylum in the UK. This would increase the asylum backlog sevenfold overnight. Also, Starmer said he would stop Rwanda flights regardless of whether they were successful. link
A Labour election victory will be great news for the EU and every illegal immigrant in Europe, and will inevitably reverse the current trend of illegals moving from the UK back to the EU via Northern Ireland. For the life of me I fail to understand the rationale of anyone who would even consider voting Labour.

They've just thrown away the opportunity for a landslide victory possibly even the opportunity to get in at all.
Illegal immigration kills. Kindness encourages it and therefore, kills.
Unkind but fair policies which discourage it, save lives.

They're also looking for the youth vote, those who were too young in 2019. Those who haven't got much experience. Those who haven't known what Labour were like last time (bloody awful).

Because Labour will allow all illegals to claim asylum which will massively increase the number of illegals in the asylum system (See OP) rumour has it Starmer favours a migrant amnesty. He has not confirmed this obviously. But more to the point perhaps, he hasn't denied it either.

He has not confirmed this obviously. But more to the point perhaps, he hasn't denied it either. Refugees seeking asylum in the UK cannot be penalised for entering illegally if they are claiming asylum and coming from a place where their life or freedom are threatened — according to Article 31 of the UN Refugee Convention.
They may also stop over in other “safe” countries en route to the UK without invalidating their seeking asylum in the UK.
Apart from disagreement over the current Rwanda plan's legality, there is the cost — eg, £1.8m for each of the first 300 people the government deports. The overall cost of the scheme stands at more than half a billion pounds, according to the figures released to the National Audit Office. Even if the UK sends nobody to the central African state, Sunak has signed up to pay £370m from the public purse over the five-year deal.
Is this scheme the deterrent it's claimed to be, and for how long is the UK expecting its taxpayers to pay out these sums?
Isn't it obvious that the UK cannot solve the problem of migrants arriving and claiming asylum by itself? Even getting back control of its borders through Brexit hasn't stopped 8,278 migrants arriving by small boats so far this year.
If Labour does form the next government, I'm hoping it will involve itself in seeking a solution to the world refugee problem through international cooperation rather than continuing with the futility of bundling asylum seekers onto prison hulks or flying them to Rwanda, which could eventually cost tens of billions of pounds...

Starmer, who even dresses like Blair, is obviously well paid to look this desperate for more third world criminals entering the country. BLM will of course support him. I have no idea why it would be popular amongst normal folk, though.

For Christs sake, this is like banging your head off a hard surface. Criminals who pay people smugglers to get them from the safe EU state of France to England, are not fuckin refugees. Google Kutupalong refugee camp. Those poor sods are genuine refugees.

But not all refugees are criminals — except in the eyes of those who maintain that all those seeking asylum in the UK are. It’s also noticeable that your sympathy only kicks in for those who don’t make it to the UK…

It’s also noticeable that your sympathy only kicks in for those who don’t make it to the UK… You agree with the shouty bit, excellent. However, the only reason someone can claim to be a refugee after illegally entering the EU then travelling though several perfectly safe EU states before paying a people smuggler to get them to the UK, is because of legislation penned in the late 1940's which was designed to ease the plight of tens of millions of displaced people in a war torn Europe. I'm fairly sure the authors of the 1951 refugee convention never envisaged that 75 years later it would be used by left wing lawyers to protect foreign criminals. But that is exactly what it is being used for.

The refugee problem will never be solved until the insane idea that anyone from anywhere can up sticks, travel half way around the World, dump themselves on some unsuspecting country which is duly obliged to feed, house and accommodate them, is deemed unacceptable.

Unless the developed world comes together to devise humane ways of countering the situations around the globe that cause millions of refugees to flee their homes, the problem is likely to continue. The promises of Brexit show that single countries — or even the US — cannot stop illegal immigration by themselves…
