I grant you that it is a bit incongruous to see that but England is at least part of our country. Logically, if you think that that sort of behaviour is disgusting then you should find grown Scotsmen walking about wearing football tops of foreign countries and carrying flags of foreign countries (e.g. Ireland) markedly more disgusting. If not, and your gripe is only about Rangers fans wearing England tops, then you need to take a good look at yourself and confront your own toxic prejudices and bigotry before condemning others.

You and I and any reasonable person looking in might think that but no doubt Thomas will be along soon to tell us, just like bigots the world over, that his particular version of toxic prejudice and bigotry isn’t like all the other forms of bigotry out there and that, in fact, it is not bigotry at all but noble indignation or some such self-deceiving spin that he chooses to tell himself to justify his rancid attitude.
BTW - for the avoidance of doubt, I am not just talking here about what football tops someone chooses to wear but pretty much everything that I see Thomas contribute on here.

In the footballing world , that is the biggest spectator sport on this planet , the United Kingdom doesn't participate . It's the only major state in Europe , if not the world , that doesn't have a football team. This is because it's not a nation , its multi national , hence " England" in footballing terms isnt part of "our" country. The second part of your British nationalist rant regarding England football tops was to show in my earlier post how the rangers fans are turning on each other more and more as the toxic divisive sectarian nature of their extreme British nationalism implodes. No other country in the world has its own people wear the football tops of other nations , and my main point is that they attack those from their own country who support their own countries national team.Glasgow rangers have a long history of sectarian bigotry and bile , and are often described as Scotlands shame. Not lecturing at all just constantly aghast at the perpetuation of this petty feud that realistically I knew little about until my early teens. The first question most Scots asked, even in backwaters like Stirling, late Saturday afternoon was not how the local team did but how did the Gers/Hoops do. I find that many grown Scotsmen in the main love to parade around in Orange sashes or wrapped in an Irish tricolour and it is a strange concept to me to be largely filled with so much hatred not just against the English but against fellow countrymen. |
