St Georges Day should be celebrated in the same way the Paddies celebrate St Paddies day. Loads of beer, drunkenness and happiness. And have mock helmet hats in pubs. And obviously keep the parades, it gives Scouts and Cadets something to look forward to. Having witnessed St Patrick’s and St George’s days for around 20 years in London, I can’t say that I’ve seen celebrations for either cause disruptions where I’ve been — however, I can’t say that I’ve been aware of St George being celebrated with anything like the enthusiasm of St Patrick. March 17 sees the pubs and clubs really heaving round here. Yesterday, there wasn’t much going on at all — I’ve seen more action in Wetherspoons on a Burns Night…! Sadly I can't disagree with a word you're saying, however it would be great to get the breweries on board with the celebration of St George. After all England has far more breweries than Ireland.
Make it special. Get people remembering who he really was.

Yes - it was a classic example of 2 tier policing. It's the police who spark the violence. Good ,about time they grew a pair .

They was Blocking the road. Only because the Police absolutely overreacted and blocked the area. There was no need whatsoever. Sack them. Fine them. Those officers made a public nuisance of themselves and brought the force into disrepute by behaving like complete and total fascists.

Ireland probably has an ale that’s more famous around the world than any of England’s brews. *** ** Why do you think breweries aren’t supporting St George’s Day celebrations to any great degree? Is it that there isn’t the automatic upswell of merry-making there is with St Patrick? Or might they be hesitant because of the widespread fear or suspicion of being associated with celebrations hijacked “ultra patriotic” groups…?

England's famous ales, stouts, milds and porters are more numerous and as such no one brewery has a monopoly on the British beer export market. But with better marketing there can be an upswell of celebration. Wychwood's Hobgoblin ale is some of the finest beer on the market. But in the UK we have from our politicians a "drinking" = bad culture. Drinking at home to excess is bad. Going to the pub and SOCIALISING, is very good for everyone including mental health. Traditional real ales contain more anti oxidants and nutrients than wine. They contain vitamins. In moderation they're extremely good for you.

It’s because lefties have made any celebration of England or English an expression of far right nationalism. I suspect that there are more fights between drunken Irish on St Patrick’s day than fights between drunken English on St George’s day .
