Better late than never,
The husband of former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been re-arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the finances of the Scottish National Party.
Peter Murrell, 59, was previously arrested as a suspect on 5 April 2023 before being released without charge.
He was taken into custody at 09:13 on Thursday and is being questioned by Police Scotland detectives.
Mr Murrell resigned as the party's chief executive in March 2023.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 59-year-old man has today, Thursday, April 18 2024, been charged in connection with the embezzlement of funds from the Scottish National Party.
“The man, who was arrested at 9.13am today and had previously been arrested as a suspect on April 5 2023, was charged at 6.35pm after further questioning by Police Scotland detectives investigating the funding and finances of the party.
“A report will be sent to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in due course. The man is no longer in police custody. As this investigation is ongoing, we are unable to comment further.

The investigation is described as "on going", this may mean that Mr Murrell may face further charges, or in fact others may be charged as well, we are prohibited from comments or speculation as this is still a live investigation.
If we weren't prohibited from comment I would speculate on an eight year stretch, if found guilty of coure.

What I was alluding to, as if you didn't know, is that fact that it would be difficult if not impossible for someone to steal £600,000 and buy a £110,000 motorhome, without his wife at least suspecting something. The pair of them should be in prison. |

I see that and agree — certainly, a Tory MP couldn't get the suspected misuse of thousands of pounds of campaign funds past his former campaign manager, who reported his suspicions months ago to the Tory chief whip...
