The state pension is going to lessen over time. Individuals forced into hardship by the dropping state pension will have to make up the shortfall by claiming other benefits. This picture has been painted by governments for the past 50 years. Frankly, anyone who prefers to gamble on existing in their retirement on the meagre income provided by the future taxpayer, must be contrary, dense or mad. Governments have realised that not all the public have enough brains to see they can make their old age more comfortable, and have passed laws to make employers now offer pension schemes. And any self-employed person, who cannot see that providing for their own future is obviously better than just existing from one benefit top up to the next, must also have several screws loose.. If state pensions will lessen over time then your problem will be solved ..or will it , means tested benefits will rise to create an equality of outcome and anyone with any sense will piss away the money that they would otherwise contribute to their private pensions ….thus creating an even bigger burden to the tax payer . Brave new world eh? Only if you really believe benefits will give you an equivalent life to your private pension.

As opposed to the politics of greed.
Said the man who wants to rob pensioners.
How can you rob someone of something they didn't pay for?

They paid for it in NI contributions. You want to rob pensioners , you just don’t want to admit it. Pensioners that are in their 70's 80's or even 90's who paid into the State Pensions Scheme for many years many for 50 years receive a lower amount then those younger who have paid into the scheme for 36 years, or over, in this day and age of Levelling up perhaps their pension should be increased to the new level. Anyone whose only income is the State Pension really struggle to make ends meet after all those years of working and paying into the system, made even worse by the cost of living in today's world. Not only did I pay for my State Pension over the years, but I paid into another Pension Scheme for years, plus two other modest pension schemes for 10 years as I worked passed the age of 65 years, even though I am now retired I still pay tax on my income and will do so until I pop me clogs, so still paying into the system. Yes, TTL wants to rob me of what I have paid for, the Politics of Envy and Hate, I have never been a burden on the state, never claimed any benefits as I kept working and paying my way and my bills, so did many others Here's the thing. All those payments you made into NI that would provide you a state pension didn't even cover the cost of the health provision let alone a pension. About 40% of the population are a burden on the state in real terms because even those never claiming a penny in benefits don't pay the full amount of the cost of the services they use. So while I would not want you to go without, I do hate the argument that pensioners are due their pensions.

I don't want to rob anyone of there pensions I want them pensioners who wasnt in the position to pay for a private pension
To have a pension that they can afford to heat there homes at winter rather then freeze to death because there scared of putting heating on.
I why I suggested a means tested state pension is because like I stated a couple of times its a ticking time bomb and something needs to be done before its to late.

How can you rob someone of something they didn't pay for? But they have paid for it. Quite handsomely.
I take it you've heard of National Insurance?
If you go on the website it will tell you exactly how much you've paid for.

My post addressed a point from another poster . If you read the posts that I answered then it will become clearer.

Yes I've heard of it. Have you heard of the National health service? My point being that NI payments never even covered that bit let alone a pension plan. Good luck finding a private company that guarantees you that much more money out than you put in. Fact is virtually no one has put enough money into NI to cover all the things they demand back from it.

Indeed. Massive savings could be made if we treated pensions like any other benefit and didn't give it to those who don't need it. I'm open to giving up my State Pension - can I now have my 40 years of contributions back please. Excellent. Here's your account settlement Contributions £328,000. Refund £328,000 Minus cost of healthcare provided £694,000 Please remit £336,000 by return.

Please remit £336,000 by return. Can I have a breakdown of the healthcare spending on me? I've just done a reasonably accurate summary to find I'm due a refund of some £200K plus compensation for the fuck-ups they've made and are still making.

Well all this equipment and drugs that you bought must still be sitting around somewhere unused - can you get it delivered and I'll flog it off on ebay.

You don't seem to have any understanding as to how insurance works. Do you think your car insurance company keeps an ambulance, hospital, doctor, car repair workshop, resprayer and a hire car in a warehouse somewhere unused in case you make a claim?

It's where the good guys pay for the bad guys; drivers that have never made a claim pay for those who do, people who are rarely ill pay for those who are ill. The whole busines is one of one section subsidising the other.
