Same with Ronaldo and Portugal. That wink sealed it. On the naughty list for life without parole. come now monte , if we were to list all the faults and cheats of world football , we could plaster the cheats of the english game all over this thread for weeks to come.
Ronaldo , while no the player maradonna was , once more is another great footballer , and icon of the game.
Sure but as I like to say, Let he who is without bias cast the first aspersion.

Cheating and unsportsman like behaviour is and always has been part of the game , as evidenced across the world every week including in your countries national leagues. So not sure why maradonna and ronaldo are being singled out any more than any englishman.

I'm 57. I remember that Argentina game differently of course. It didn't make Maradona a hero for me instead marking him out as an enemy for life, never to be forgiven or forgotten. I can accept losing to a better team and even appreciate the skill of an opposition player but cheating just isn't cricket dear boy. Argentina were by far the better team in that game , and while his hand of god was funny , his other goal that i posted was the greatest footballing goal i have ever witnessed.
The argies had a point to prove in that game especially after the las malvinas war , and i have never witnessed any english footballer past or present that was fit to lace maradonnas boots.
There is no such thing as the Malvinas. They are as made up as the Braveheart myth. I think you must mean your comrades in the right to self-determination, the Falkland Islanders.

Michael Owen Better known nowadays as the guy who puts the cones out at Manchester United's training sessions, Michael Owen actually used to play in the odd football match. However, he's an English player in the Premier League who's been known to take a fall—so we need to include him in the list. His most famous tumble was actually in the 1998 World Cup. So enamoured were the English press with their new golden boy, and his incredible solo goal in that game, they ignored his blatant piece of cheating which had won England a penalty earlier in the game.

Because they cheated against England of course. I'm not claiming to be unbiased either.

There is no such thing as the Malvinas. well there is .I dont speak spanish but i thought thats what the argies call those islands.
What braveheart myth is that then monte? Perhaps we could start a thread on it as history buffs , and you tell me where the myths are ?
oh the colonists? Isnt there a un law on colonials and kangaroo referendums tying them to the motherland?
Once we get indy , we could offer up the argies our 9% share of las malvinas in return for a few favours to be negotiated.

It is. It isnt a platform though for reality deniers.
Yet here you are doing just that. And sulking about the union all the time. Awww. If only you could have had a vote on the matter ? Oh wait, you did, and you lost. Get over it.

To save time I'll just post your fellow Scott's thoughts on the Braveheart myth. The balls on the man to do this routine in Glasgow, they must be bigger than your debt to GDP ratio.

Im dissapointed in you monte. Since you brought up braveheart , i thought we could indulge in some intelligent discourse on the subject as history and political buffs , and i was interested to hear your views and what you thought was fantasy , yet you post some video of some english guy waffling on ?
Who is he and what is his area of expertise in historical terms ?
thats a few minutes of my life im not getting back .

Well no you dont.
Sorry monte , that is guff , and shows a complete lack of understanding of footballs tribal mentality.
You dont see man utd fans cheering on liverpool , or rangers cheering on celtic do you?
As a proud european , im cheering on France. I support British clubs in European competitions. I can't exactly support my club as we've barely kicked a ball in Europe since we ripped up the seats in Paris and got British teams kicked out of it entirely for a few years. It was English clubs that were thrown out of European Competitions.

He did bring up 3 historical inaccuracies about the myth as portrayed by Gibson's dreadful film. The rest is comic genius. Well worth 11 mins of anyone's time in my opinion. 1) Wallace wasn't some man of the people born into poverty and oppression. He was in fact a minor member of the Scottish aristocracy and as likely to be oppressing his poor tenants as any English Lord of the time. 2) Far from having a deep lifelong hatred of the English there is some evidence that he actually fought alongside the English as a mercenary. 3) The beautiful lady portrayed as his love interest in the film was an actual historical figure but she was only 4 years old at the time of Wallace's death. As Stuart Lee points out, this doesn't necessarily mean that he didn't have sex with her. He probably did but it would have been a far less romantic scene than the one portrayed in the film. Honestly, you should watch it. It's a comic masterpiece and even the Glasgow audience present laughed all the way through. Apart from one large bearded guy sat at a table alone in the front of the audience who couldn't work out whether to laugh or punch Stuart Lee until about half way through. I must have watched it a dozen times and it still makes me smile.

I shall self flagellate and recite 10 male hairys as penance.
