Which is a pity because the written word above showcases such obviously splendid prose in combination with an unchallengeable argument that you surely combine in your own great person the literary qualities of Shakespeare with the philosophical dexterity of Plato. I think that is far too presumptions of you. It had crossed my mind he may be diddling the system, but right now I have zero evidence of it. I'd look a right plonker if I believed something with zero evidence. You often go on about mass corruption in this country but who are the beneficiaries? Not the ones you and others like to attack who are mostly weak and powerless but the wealthy elites. And Hester is doing what they all do....protecting his interests by buying political influence. Whether or not he is complicit in any greater corruption than that we will never be allowed to know. The wealthy elites totally control us along with most sources of information. But we are paying more taxes than ever before, we are all of us mostly feeling poorer than ever before, everything costs more than ever before, yet all public services are in a state of collapse through lack of funds. The money is going somewhere on a colossal scale. Yet in spite of your belief in huge scale corruption, you tend to play their game by directing your theorising about corruption at any targets but the very ones in charge of everything who are so obviously getting ever richer whilst the rest of us get ever poorer. Don't be another of their useful idiots. Wake up! You are just making a logical error. He is part of a set of rich people who donate to political parties. There is another set of people who are corrupt and cheat the system. We have examples where the two sets intersect, so we observe people who are a member of both sets. This does not imply every member of set A is a member of set B. It's simple set theory. |

It does not necessarily follow that just because someone is very wealthy it does not mean that he or she is automatically part of the corrupt ruling elite. Hester has definitely been using his wealth to buy political influence. Although not illegal, most people tend to regard a system that allows this as morally corrupt. But there is no evidence yet public of more than that. However, the fact is that some of the wealthy elites are part of the corruptocracy and it is not something ordinary joes are going to be part of. By definition, you are unlikely to be a major part of the corruption unless you are yourself getting rich or even richer out of it. So whilst not all rich people need be part of the corruption, almost all of those up to their necks in it will be amongst the rich or super rich. The fact that we are highly unlikely to ever be allowed to know who is or is not corruptly leeching off us does not change the fact of it quite obviously happening. And it is curious that a media mostly owned and controlled by the wealthy elites seeks so obviously to foment public anger at powerless groups easy to demonise, who in no way control anything of significance. The people who truly are ruining our lives are not the powerless scapegoat groups we are encouraged to hate who mostly have no power at all to hurt us. It is the ones in power who control everything who are ruining our lives. Until we wake up to that reality we wll keep hating migrants and welfare claimants whilst getting ever poorer as the wealthy elites keep taking the piss unchallenged |

I am guilty this evening of giving back more than they have given purely for my own entertainment. If some mod wants to come along and delete it all thats fine. But I did not start the trading of insults. One here in particular loves the word "dimwit" when he is himself too dim to formulate a more intelligent response. It generally signposts that he has lost the argument. But alas, guilty as charged in responding to them on the same level, albeit with more wit, largely for my own amusement. Its not big and its not clever I know, but I am still willing to respond intelligently to intelligent arguments. Basing any kind of argument on the supposed notion that I am a dimwit does not work well in terms of eliciting an intelligent response from me, unsurprisingly enough. |
