Has people gained there feedom they torn down memorials to past despot leaders like iraq did following the overflow of saddam.
In latvia at the moment there pulling down memorials to the old Soviet rule.
We in this country have seen protesters pull down statue to people who made there money though slave trade.
Khan the major of London changing street names who bear former slave traders.
Is it time that we has a nation torn ourseleves from our imperial past by taring down monuments of our imperial past .
Iike the statue of winston Churchill who overseen the famine of 3 million people in Bangal
Bombing the kurdish uprishing in 1920 with poisoning gas.
The Tonpandy riots where British troops fired upon mining rioters.
Plus other atrocities he was responsible for.

You're within your rights to campaign to, however I would spend my energy campaigning to repeal the sugar tax, cut VAT drastically, reduce alcohol taxes, fuel taxes, cut the cost of living.

Perhaps, in the interests of historical accuracy, you could replace the statue of Churchill with one of Hitler since that was the choice the nation faced at the time?

Churchill is long dead,he had his faults and virtues too,why do you want to destroy statues? Who pays heed to them apart from tourists and pigeons.
Imperial past is just that also long gone,we were in the vanguard of abolishing the slave trade.
Abhorrent though it was it wasn’t all the white mans fault many tribes openly captured adversaries and sold them on.
If you want to go on a crusade to eradicate the past will you go off to Rome and smash up all the ancient monuments the places where people had to face lions and each other for the entertainment of others?
The past is what we were not what we are and passing judgements on individuals or whole countries on present day standards is both pointless and the heigh of stupidity.

If you don't know basics like that are you sure that what you think you know about his supposed other actions are accurate? |

Just because something was illegal never stopped Churchill.
Or Attlee for that matter.
